i hit my buddies truck. i need help

alright so about 3 weeks ago i was fishing with a couple of my buddies i went to leave and hit my buddies truck. i didnt think i even hit it because i guess i barley touched it. so i get out and look to see if i scratched it or anything and i didnt see nothing. so my buddy is still fishing, he didnt see me hit his truck, didnt hear it either....but even though i didnt think i even scratched it, i go and tell him. so he comes up there and looks at it and says that i knocked his bumper down...which i couldnt tell, and neither could the other 5 guys fishing with us. so i tell him i would pay for it, because i figured it would only be like $100

so the next day i see it in the daylight and he has like a 2002 silverado or somthing. so i look at it and i could telll that one side was about 1/8 inch lower than the other...but i couldnt tell it had been hit just by looking at one side...like it looked normal.

so a couple days later i see it and his bumper is hanging down about 2 inches. i wasnt drunk and i have a couple people that said it got worse.

ok so i tell him to go get estimates...he does...brings back 2 estimats, one is for $800 and one is for $850.......and they arent even replacing the bumper.

so he keeps bugging me about his money like day in and day out...and right now i honestly dont have it.

bad part- i dont have insurance on my jeep. because i am trying to sell it so i dont drive it anymore.

he told me if i dont have the money then i could say i hit him with my civic...but i dont want my insurance going up for the next 5 years...

also- i offered to try to fix it myself and he wouldnt let me

that explains why the bumper went from 1/8th inch to 2inch..
id say get a restraining order to keep him away from ur civic n pretend u never hit him. still. i dont know how a bumper does that. UNLESS a clip broke.. n finally snapped the next morning. wish you the best n hopefully this gets sorted out without having to

Don't give him the money, and make sure he knows that you are not going to give it to him. If you are going to pay for it pay the shop directly so that there isn't anyway that he can make extra cash. Then never talk to his as* again he ain't no friend I'd want. Kudos for being honest.

So what was in the estimate from the body shop?

$850 is alot for not even replacing the bumper. My Trans Am cost about $800 for repainting the fender mirror and door when my friend backed down my car 6 feet before she noticed she was rubbin my car lol. Got it done on a side job for $300
I'd say check out what needs to be fixed.

Ask to see the estimate and find out for yourself. If he does not let you see it he is scaming you. Just remember to keep insurance on your vehicle for stupid stuff like this. You are supposed to have it anyways (being nice ).
