^^ What med schools are you applying to? I'm hoping I can get enough good shadowing and clinical experiences in along with good grades (3.7+) throughout the next 3 years so that i can be competitive at schools like the Mayo Clinic medical school, Stanford, Hopkins, etc etc. Gotta aim big! I wouldn't mind staying in-state and doing something like Minnesota Medical School, although I'd rather stay local at Mayo Clinic

Hands down to Hopkins..........................

Although the campus in the downtown area sucks, and the roads are crap for the Si.

Most def, but I'd rather take Mayo clinic first. Nothing like living at home, rent free during the most trying years of your life, and only being 5 minutes away from the clinic

Not to mention I think it's quite possibly the greatest medical institute in the world and I've had nothing but good experiences there. Except when I got an appendectomy, but I think that sucks no matter where you go.

I'm basically applying all over the U.S. hahah. Don't want to take any chances, it's an expensive application process... I'm working full time to pay for college loans and app fees. Though it's good to aim big, don't forget to target the smaller schools... nothing wrong with a safety net. Staying in-state is a def plus considering how damn expensive school is... I'd give anything, even my pretty habi fg2 to stay in Cali. Free rent FTW, no time for a social life since you'll be studying your life away!

Seriously though, it sounds like you just started undergrad, I would try and get involved with as many activities as possible, then once you find what you like, narrow it down to a few commitments. That way you will be able to get more meaningful experiences from them and will be able to talk about them in more detail in personal statements/interviews. Experiences are good, but a high GPA and MCAT is a must... gives you more credibility and makes everything easier. I'm sure you've already heard all that, so best of luck!

I know it sounds boring but I enjoy it plus there is almost a 100% job placement.
Needless to say, i had a job before I graduated and I feel bad for those who are still looking after graduating 1+ years ago.
