the real question tho is who invented this exactly? Apple has been developing this phone for the past 2 years as stated in their keynote. HTC says that they were working on this before the keynote, but nothing said about them working on it for 2 years. either way both have a good thing going, and it will be cool to see which one is better once the iphone is released. they will def be compared with each other. good find +rep.

Au contraire. Throwback to a couple years ago, and this little contraption was dubbed the iPhone...

Yes folks, it's the ghastly Moto ROKR R1. Sure, Apple probably lent a hand in giving white earbuds and developing the "iPod" capabilities of this phone to Motorola, but the fact remains, this is their very first attempt at a phone.

Yes, you can say "flop" now.

Cisco-I mean Apple's iPhone looks a lot like the LG Prada phone, which has a touch-screen too.

PS: Multi-touch has been around for at least 25 years.

Overpriced and overrated, much like 90% of the phones out there today, only this one is from Apple, has cool features, and automatically will have the music loving, egocentrics, iPod loving crowd going ape shit over it because it has a bitten apple on it.

PASS.

OMG WHERE's THE TOLERANCE MIKE!

Re: Marc

Dont get me started on Motorola... their phones are the biggest disappointment.. ever.. lets just hope the iPhone does what its supposed to be.. I'm sure after about 3 months it should drop in price.. then people will say "oh.. it is an iPod.." blah blah.. as most people are now comfortable paying a good amount of money for their phones.. although a few years ago it was very much okay for 90% of the mass to have a free phone, but now you have to have a 200$+ Phone.. just gotta be like JeSh? :P.. but yeah.. Not a fan of the iPhone but I'd like to see it improove the market by competition ;]... but I dont see it happeneing :[. Lol.

I think the phone will be live up to it's expectations. I plan to get one the day it comes out. I don't wanna speak to soon, but apple has done a great job with their products, so I'm pretty sure the iphone will do just as well with it being apple's first generation phone. Plus, they have been testing it for the past 10 weeks just to find a single glitch. Also, price probably won't drop down nearly like the razor considering it can't go lower than the price of an ipod.

Phone is too excessive. The touch screen idea is cool but to me it's just another useless feature that is gonna break down or degrade. What does it do better that any other phone doesn't already do? I'm not gonna throw down $600 on a phone just because it's packaged by Apple. There's phones that do an awesome job with MP3's, taking photos, video, texting, note taking, etc. I just don't see a valid justification for it other than it's a product by Apple. The price most likely won't go down, Apple as a company controls pricing for all the retail chains selling their products, this is the reason why you never see Apple products on sale unless they're used, refurb items.

Apple makes good products however it's hard to justify spending 2X markup for PC components just because it comes with an Apple designed tower and the operating system.

If I wanted stability in an OS I'd run Linux, which has about the same software compatiability as any Mac OS and it's free. Until more software developers make software for Mac OS, I'd stay away from it.

Actually, my phone was over $400

I hope the iPhone lives up to its hype

Regardless, it will cause other phone makers to step up their game and develop some really cool devices. All in all, a welcome advancement in the world of mobile phones and mobile computing.

If you think about it, the iphone is expensive, but other great smartphones are only a little bit cheaper. When you add up the memory card you have to buy to expand the memory of other phones, you're looking at almost the same price.

Yup, true. Price-wise, I still think the iPhone is still $50-75 overpriced though.

Yea it is still a little bit more expensive. I'm just saying to everyone who thinks it is far more expensive than any other smartphone. I really hope it will be a good phone though because I would hate to have siked myself up and wasted alot of money.

Apple products typically hold their value quite well. I guess that's a direct effect of a full control on supply.

Sorry - I'm gonna buy a trusty Sony Ericsson W960i when it comes out

the iphone is waaay overpriced. you can sign a 2 year contract with att and get an att 8525 or blackberry 8800 for $300. if you buy a smartphone sans cellular service it will run you 500+ but and iphone priced at 500 and 600 bucks with a 2 year contract is highway robbery.

the iphone is maybe a $300 phone by itself...mark it up 100 for the apple logo and another 100 cause its new.
