inevitably the people who are baggin on the iphone now are gonna be the ones going out to buy one a couple months from now and caving to that 10,000 lb gorilla called peer pressure. if there's one thing apple knows how to do, it's how to market their products to the masses...

^ Disagree! I never had an iPod, and never will!

And the iPhone isn't really "revolutionary" in terms of tech. Many phones have music, WiFi, GPS, and touchscreen capabilities, and have been in the market for a while. Does it have a camera with auto-focus? Nope. My 2yr old K750i does.

^but i'll bet you've purchased an iPod in your lifetime...am i right? present for a family member perhaps? if so, then i imagine you thought it was a product worthy enough to be given to a loved one...

Actually no. I've never purchased an Apple product for myself or others. I've never been given any Apple product as well.

I'm thinking of getting one but dang it's expensive and it's like 30 dollars more on my plan if I want the internet and other stuff.

Look for new desktops, leopard release date, iphone info like 3rd party programs, and how it work with leopard. from what i hear no one should be disappointed in what will come tomorrow. cant wait.

Does Windows Mobile count? There's also Symbian and Palm-based phones out there.

It's a "version" of OS X, not the FULL operating system. It will have simliar functions such as Widgets and what not. I just don't think putting an operating system on a small device is so "revolutionary" in my eyes...it's been done before. I'd rather wait till 2009 when AT&T isn't the soul carrier of it and you can watch the price drop dramatically, then I may think about it.

most everyone seems to be riding iphones jock, but the simple fact is this is apples first attempt at developing a cell phone. the idea seems nice, integrating an ipod and a phone, to eliminate the need for two seperate devices. which is the overall goal of the world, to make things simple and easy for our lazy fat asses. but apple seems to have missed on few key features of most smartphones today. first off theres no 3g capability, which is a shock because this technology allows broadband speed internet access on your phone in many areas across the country and it is continually growing. secondly, the iphone isnt capable of using MMS and you will not be able to embed video or pictures within your messages. the iphone runs mac osx, and since most of the business world runs microsoft, without windows mobile youre not getting access to moble excel, powerpoint, and word. theres also the concerns about the durability of the device, how one will be able to change the battery if you must, how to insert a new sim card, and of course that ungodly price.(razr anyone?) without 3g and office applications apple cant really say theyre marketing this phone to the smartphone user. and the outrageous price pretty much eliminates the average consumer from obtaining this product. im guessing most people who will buy this iphone are the mac freaks who will get it simply because its from apple and if they want to have the newest product despite the fact that its slick looking ipod with a lesser phone attached to it.

i can come up with a number of reasons why i wont get the iphone, and not because i have anything against apple. its just not that great of a phone, at least not yet. and anyone whos a smartphone owner, user or enthusiast will probably agree.

actually it is running the full os x, not a version of it. also this is the first device to use the technology multi-touch, which is now being used in microsofts "surfaces" and windows mobile def does not count, it is no were near a full os

edit: just a few other things to add, visual voice mail is something new and i believe revolutionary, i dont kno about most of you but i hate waiting through 4 or 5 messages to get to the one i want.

i wont be getting an iPhone no matter how good it is. just one of the reasons:
-Linksys trademarked iPhone before Apple (for a VoIP phone)
-Apple asked if they could buy the rights
-Linksys said no
-Apple released the specs to the public and called it the iPhone anyway, in hopes that Linksys would eventually cave if they threw enough money at them. (they did)

and Apple doesnt just do this with the iPhone. there are loads of things.

its a damn shame that in the last few years, there are Apple products that i would actually be interested in (Mac Pro is damn good) but the ethics of the company has gone completly down the crapper.

well, when i said ''this'' i meant, wanting everyone to bend over backwards, and ''play nice'' with them, but they dont ''play nice'' with anyone.

they basically rip windows in their commercials in the last couple years, starting with the ''switch'' campaign, and now, its every single commercial rips windows.

a couple years ago during the switch campaign, they sued microsoft, who put a little article on the website that was written by a person who switched from Mac, to windows. she basically praised Microsoft Office. now, MS makes an Office for Mac OS, but she said that when it was time to upgrade her Mac, with the money she saved on a PC Laptop over a Apple laptop, she was able to purchase Microsoft Office which she could not afford with a Mac, and the cheaper offerings dont hold a candle to Office. so she ''switched'' to Microsoft. Microsoft took it down no problem of course.

then, a couple months ago, there was a problem with the computers in sfome of the factories that the ipod was made. meaning they had a virus. the virus affected windows PCs. Apple put up a page that said it was microsofts fault for not having better virus security, and then kindly linked to several free AV's that would clean up the virus no problem.

also, Apple denied accusations that it was manufactuing iPods in Chinese sweatshops. then, it later came out that the company who runs them (Foxconn) admitted to violating Chinese labor laws, and that Apple came in and inspected and gave their stamp of approval.

p.s. just google anything i say if you doubt. its all true.

Edit as more things come into my head: this one isnt entirley Apples fault, but i still think its un ethical:
-Apple rips on Microsoft for not coming pre installed with software analogous to iLife. but they fail to mention that Microsoft has been sued for including such programs, because its said that you should not have to be forced to have programs installed just to use an Operating system. in Europe, WMP and IE are not included in the core of Windows.
-When makers like Dell and HP take windows and bundle programs, Apple rips them for coming with too much extra software.
-Apple has the benefit of being both the OS maker and the ONLY hardware manufacturer for Macs, therefore ALL macs will come with iLife and therefore people dont see iLife as extra software, but technically it is, so Apple doesnt get sued.

edit 2, more stuff im remembering:
copyright infringment on Creative's method of organizing music on a portable MP3 player. they payed $100 million, but they never should have done it.

actually the first device to use multi-touch is HTC's Touch, which was released in Europe a week ago

Visual Voicemail was developed by Net6, which was later purchased by Citrix.

Apple-think different.

Looks like the folks at Apple are getting tired of coming up with fresh ideas...
