Prelude or si?

My wife currently owns a 2001 prelude base ebp 5spd. We owe 12k on it currently. She kinda wants to sell it to get an fg/fa. We already have my fg. The lude has a few small issues to deal with, but nothing too big. Should we sell the lude and get the si and have bigger payments, or keep the lude along with the smaller payments and continue to fix it up?

Id say go for the FG2. Even though hondas are cheap to fix, it adds up to a lot. Might as well just go get a new car.

Get the FG!! You may have bigger payments but new car = no problems. Therefore all your $$ goes to the payments. G'luck w/your decision.

price of replacement + smaller payment = bigger payment

used car < new car

They could've gotten it used not too long ago.. but uhh.. how much could you get for the lude? the 12k you owe? I'd opt for fixing it.. and get it paid off asap.. but uhh.. how many miles are on it?

Well, we had it listed right now for 10k. Yes, a loss, I know. Helps with a fast sale. While waiting, we were having second thoughts on whether it would be the best thing to go out and get another brand new car. I got my fg 1.5 months ago. Now she wants one too. Still don't know if it's a good idea. We're gonna be looking for a house soon too when she gets out of tech school.

With no information on your income, making a conclusion would be useless. Personally, I would just hold out with the Prelude, especially if you guys are looking at a house down the road.

I do understand the fact that he could have just bought it used recently...but 12k is still too much to even purchase it for..and it's a base prelude..you shouldn't have paid more than about 8k - 9k for that vehicle..but that could have interest and everything in it too....I would just keep the lude and get it fixed..a lot cheaper...its tuff making 2 big car payments a month...believe me..I had to go through that myself..

Wow, loss. Dont do it. Fix it, and keep it for another year or so, until you can get into a house.. get a little more stable before you have to sell the FG.. lol.. if anything get a cheaper car. :]. GL w/ everything :]

Haha, if he bought it new in 01 and still owed 12k...that would mean he paid like 48k for a prelude in 01..lol ..

income......I'm only making like between 450-750 a week depending on overtime or not, and the wife is an e-3 in the airforce w/ under a year in, so she makes around 900 every two weeks. I put down 6k on my fg and we would be putting down another 6k on the new one after we ate the 2k on the lude. Financed for 60 months, my payments (and hers w/ the plan layed out) are 294 a month. Insurance is more on the fg than the lude though. Preludes are more prone to problems too. Something else to consider.

As far as base model comments. They're better for dragging and the sh is better for autox. Also, sh's have a tendency to have more probs down the line.

Oh and I did buy it last october.

If I were in your situation, I would keep the lude until the new si model shows up :].. you'd have a house then :], and I suppose a little more stable?
I'd tell her if she wanted I'd fix the lude and drive it but she can have the FG if she wants, and I'll get the new Si when it comes out. :]. Sacrafice today, but she'll be envious when the new one comes out and I'll say hey.. I had to drive the old lude for how long? I'm sure you can drive a FG :].

See, now I told her I would let her have my baby even though I love my car. I love my wife more and then I would drive it for a while. I found an rsx-s that I would like to have that's a little cheaper, but I'm not gonna even get into that. She wants an si and that's that, lol. But I offered it to her.

I appreciate everyone's opinions...
