New (Used) Toy

Well this past Friday I bought a 92 CBR600F2 with 18,000 miles on it. Its not insured and registered so I took it around the back roads and I have to say, this bike runs very well for its age. Its my first bike and i'm taking the MSF course in July. So i'm learning now on my permit and then taking the class since I want to get some seat time.

After putting about 10 miles on it so far, I feel a lot more comfortable riding it, especially on the straights. I'm still a little shakey around the turns, but with practice i'll get better.

I was going to get the ninja 250 but the seller ending up selling it to someone else. I ended up getting the CBR a week later. Its also a good beginner bike, but with the extra power, you definitely have to watch out for the throttle. I snapped it a little bit and almost had the front wheel up.

Anyways, just thought i'd share. Its definitely something worth trying if you got the time and money to learn. Be careful and always wear protective gear!

Awesome!!

Be careful and stay off the roads until you go through your safety course - it's pretty comfy on the straights, but what would you do if an emergency came up? Your reflexes have to be second nature..

not out to scare you or anything, just to make sure you're starting off on the right foot!

good luck and enjoy!

Alot of people think that after like 10,000 miles the bike is "high miles" but the truth is if you maintain them they will run for ever. My 03 GSX-R has 15,000 miles all put on by me and runs as good as it did with 1,000 miles. I have buddies that have 50 or 60,000 miles on sport bikes and they still run great. Most bikes sadly get toatled before they have miles on them

I had a 99 ZX-7R that had 26,000 miles on it. We put about 5k+ miles every riding season. Like everybody says, periodic maintenance is key.

i've seen bikes with over 40,000 miles.. its just an engine, like a car, it'll run forever almost as long as you take care of it.
