is this true?

my mom just bought a brand new 2007 for explorer eddie bauer edition.... with dvd player... satelite radio... leather seats blah blah..... we live in a more suburban area... and she went to 3 dealers around us that all quoted her 379 a month.... she went down to a dealership near NYC and the dealership gave her a lease price of 309 a month... is it true that you get better deals going more towards the city or is this a myth?... any ideas?

I don't think it has to do with the location as much as a purchase versus a lease.

it also depends on the specific dealership.. some models are hard to sell.. therefore they make better offers nd such.. and yeah.. what twisted said.. lease vs purchase = different monthly payments

Cities = more competition.

More competition = better deals

Where I live, there is ONE honda dealer for a ways around, so I was getting jerked around. I got a good quote from up in the cities around here, and told them I would take the 1.5hr drive to get the better deal, and they knocked off over 2k. Competition is

well are the first quotes for lease or to buy

cause from my understanding when leasing you get a better
deall in the short run

and i thought it better deals farther from the city cuz of less business.

cuz i know if you buy a car up north from where i live the sales taxes is cheaper, and i live in the city

I've found that the best deals are often from dealers that are somewhat more rural. Both dealers that gave me the best deal on my Si were located either in a distant suburb, or in a medium-sized town around 35 miles from the city. Other folks in my family have also gotten good deals in dealers that are somewhat out of the way from a metropolitan area. These rural dealers within a 50-mile radius of a metro are still competing with city dealers for customers.
