Girl friends and cars

so i've been with my girl for about a year and a couple now and one of the things i constantly joke with her about is the fact that she doesn't care about cars at all. Like doesn't appreciate them, couldn't tell a M3 from prius, doesn't see the point in spending money on them etc etc. I was just wondering if you guys would rather have a girl who knew alot about cars or a girl who knew nothing.
Personally i would like to find a happy medium; ie. a chick who know the difference between a HID and halogen bulb, one who can tell the difference between the M's and AMG's and their stock siblings, but couldn't tell me how a turbo worked. I just want a girl to appreciate it when you get busy in the car b/c the car is ur baby and all that excess moving around can really do hell to the seats

lol, females will be females...

My chick understands my fascination with cars; she compares it to a females fascination with getting their hair done, nails done... etc.

Crazy stuff!!

My girlfriend is great. She knows about cars and can tell you more than just "its a red one". Shes pretty cool about my love for cars and Ive got no problem letting her drive the SI whenever she wants.

She also knows what JDM means

My girl drives better than me sometimes. She grew up around the HSR and SCCA so she's all about road racing and classic cars and stuff like that. She understands totally about my love for cars and even shares it with me. She goes to every race and every meet with me. When I got my Honda I wasn't too up to speed on them (came from the american market) so she helped me get up to speed and explained a lot about them to me.

She also appreciates a nice/ rare car as much as any of us would. She always makes sure to point them out to me, especially if I don't see it before her..

I am kind of one of those in between girls. I like cars and I usually know the names of the cars on the road around me. I get excited when I am following a rare exotic car. But I definitely cannot tell you how a turbo works, and I need help with most of the stuff that I want to do to my car.

that's all i would really want from a woman. having more knowledge is nice, but as long as she appreciates my passions it's satisfying to know i can share them w/ her.

I've been told that it's a pretty attractive quality to have if the guy is into cars.
I don't claim to be a genius regarding everything automotive, but I'm into my car, and want to learn as much as I can. I also have a PT job as a service advisor, this will be my fourth summer doing this job, and I worked on weekends during the school year, so I've been doing it for a while. I've been able to learn a lot from this job about general mechanical automotive stuff, which I think is great, so down the road I'll know what I'm talking about when dealing with my car.

Girls dont give a crap about cars..most of them

So my question is why do people dress out their car to look all racer when they should concentrate on the go factor?

^^ Threadjack! Haha, just playin' :)

My girlfriend is great. She's exactly the "middle" one. She knows about cars and likes them enough to be able to appreciate a nice one and to appreciate my love for cars too. She also likes to "review" any modification I do, since that also gives her an excuse to drive my car. :)

i've had gf's in the past who didnt give a flying hoot what i drove or anything. she liked it becuase it was reliable and whatnot but not for the same reason i did.
my wife now is into cars, she and i bought a '76 datsun as a gift for ourselves this past christmas and its a blast. i'm still more into it than she is but she helps out and gives ideas all the time towards what to do to the car.

as long as the girl doesn't give me an overly hard time about the car (ie why don't u spend more time with me) then i'm good with no knowledge to a certified mechanic.

for a girl i'd stop mod'ing the car in a heart beat. but i'm a sucker for happiness.

Man I wish my girl was that cool, she hates how much time I spend in this car and thinks washing it twice a week is stupid and thinks the dumbest thing about it all is how I always take pictures of it with my friends to post on here.... she is throwing salt on the ride

My girl doesn't know jack, but she sees how excited I get and so she's learning. I taught her how to drive the 5-speed she bought after she totalled her automatic. She was dying for a stick shift after she saw how much fine I had in the Si.

well you would really have to ask my bf this question but according to him, he thinks its great having a gf into cars.. i mean i am learning new things and all but i know a bunch of stuff, i guess i am kind of in between

the only thing he hates is that i drive an 07 si, and he drives a 91 eclipse (auto) lol but i think it is easier because i can understand how the entire car scene works (i am in it also).. we are both in the same car club and we go to shows together.. i dunno it just works better

*i have to add that he was the one who taught me how to drive manual

I'm the in between girl as well. Definitely not the overly girly girl. I love being around cars. I was always the girl hanging with all my guy friends learning about cars (that the girlfriends really disliked on top of that). I was always at the meets and the weekend hang outs, not to hook up but to support my boys and their cars.

On having a male influence in my life; My dad was around, but not nearly enough to influence me as you would think. He's into American and currently drives a Hayabusa, but loves my civ! I just kinda fell in love with cars and learning how they work..

My girlfriend loves cars and I love that. She has a firebird (yeah, yeah I know, i'm working on that part) but loves working on it and making it nicer. She really wants to learn how to drive mine too, I'm not sure I want her to learn how to drive stick on my SI though lol.
