alright I hope I don't get yelled at on here. lol

my boyfriend is a car fanatic and to be honest, it does annoy me at times. some times i would love to just go out and not worry about what's going on with the SI. some days i could care less if he just washed it 24 hours ago, or the xenon head lights he wants to get, or the shift knob. and i do think it's a waste of money, especially when i'm looking forward to buying a house together, making sure all of our bills are paid so our credit is in good standing, and eventually getting married.

but that's where are life is at now... if we had more money and weren't worrying about all that stuff, i wouldn't care if he wanted to use $2000 for the lights, as long as we make a compromise and i can get something that's equivalent in price.

don't think i don't appreciate a great car though... I used to drive a ford tempo (YUCK!!!!) and can tell a $hit car from an awesome one.

I married a man who knew jack s**t about cars. To him, you buy a nice one, drive it, keep it stock and let the dealership work out the kinks. I taught him how to change his oil. He did know how to change a tire thankfully. I'm stuck in the dullest place on earth and I think I've found 5 guys and 1 girl here who understand cars. You'd be suprised how many men in the military DON'T have a clue about them. All they know is get a nice car/truck/suv and slap some shiney wheels on it and you're good to go. I've had to change a tire for a guy like that before. And I pulled it off in 3 inch heels. Leaving him feeling like one infront of his buddies.

My point is, car cluelessness is a two way street.

Id also say im an in between girl. i LOVE cars, i love seeing exotic cars, i love my SI, and i have always driven a stick car.. my boyfriend and i have been together since i was 14 so he kinda got me into cars then, he has a rsx right now.. he used to have an EP3 full type r. and now hes working on the rsx to make it also full type r. i love helping him and support him fully.

but im also not a tomboy. i like to get my nails done.. and i like to get pretty.. i dont change my oil, i have my bf do it but if i had to i would know how.. same with changing a tire and doing some car things. i couldnt tell you how a turbo works and i still have so many things to learn but im not ignorant about cars.

if your a car freak like we all are on here.. its good to have a girl who understands.. she doesnt have to be a car freak too. but at least not get upset if your working on ur car for too long.. mayb teach her a thing or two. =]

I'm sort of one of those in-between girls, too. But I know how cars work, can tell you how they operate and why, it's just it's all book-learning and nothing hands-on. I've never changed my own oil because no one's ever showed me.

I can identify every car on the road and tell you specs about it. My dad got me into cars, he goes for the old ones. My passion is the newer ones and the imports, definitely.

I'm totally a tomboy, though. I hate shopping, don't understand the fascination about shoes and find it pretty difficult to understand women. Men are so much easier to talk to and such.

I know more about cars than my boyfriend, though. I'm sure I'll have to show him how to drive a stick sometime.

I give all you girls that take the effort to learn the ins and outs of car maintenance major props. My wife will change the oil in her car and help me out doing work on my car (occasionally) but she would never consider buying a car with a stick or doing any upgrades to her car (01 Focus ZX3). I think it's awesome that it seems like there are several Si owners on this forum that are women. I just could never imagine my wife owning an Si. She gets pretty nervous just having me drive it and refuses to drive the Si if it's anywhere in town that would require you to shift often.

my girlfriend doenst know too much about cars but i am slowly teaching her. she understands my facination and has no objections to it. Best of all though, i got her into Autocrossing and we co-drive my Si! She has so much fun and is on her way to winning the Ladies class for the second year in a row.

my ex i think appreciated all the things i do with my car and the fact that they were largely usable by her... of course it usually took her awhile to warm up to the ideas and not look at me like i had three eyes. Then again... she often labeled me as "abnormal".
