F Global Warming

This Global Warming thing is really starting to annoy me.
(This thread added fuel to the fire
Race Header = F*ck global warming?)

The polar ice caps are melting, so what? Can anyone explain why the polar ice caps are melting on MARS also? Can anyone tell me how many SUV's, race headers or industrial plants creating polluted air on Mars?

I can, none. Not one SUV, not one car, not one pollution industrial plant. Another thing, the Sun or "our Sun" is a star and like every other star in the universe it has a beginning and a end and from the beginning to the end it gradually gets hotter and hotter and hotter until it implodes or explodes. Don't get me wrong we do damage to our atmosphere but it's not as much as these scientist make it seem.

I realize that this isn't a well grounded argument against the Global Warming issue but it will do for now...

P.S. I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE "The Day After Tomorrow" So don't bring it up, it is just a f'ing movie so don't go there.

theres this bbc video on youtube that sheds light onto the truth about global warming. i've been looking for it everywhere but cant find it anymore!! but it states that humans arent the official cause of global warming, makes a complete fool out of al gore and all his stupid graphs, and that global warming is used to scare people and create all sorts of business, which creates thousands of new jobs.

The Earth does have long cycles of warming and cooling periods. I guess what's alarming scientists is the rate at which the Earth is warming up currently.

But yes, I agree. Global Warming is a hot topic that should not be. Why base your conclusions on climate data for the past few decades only, when climactic data for the past 500,000 years is available?

Who's notes do we have from 500,000 years ago?

Global Warming is a sham, at least in the form of "your SUV makes the Earth Cry". Like the OP said, the sun is getting hotter, just check out the surrounding planets to verify.

I concur. I don't belive global warming should be such a hot issue right now. Information overload on global warming is being pushed right now and people that arn't usually concerned take extra concern about the topic. Next thing you know, people will be blaming Bush for global warming too, just like everything else they do.

Maybe if Bush didn't set himself up for so many ridiculous failures he wouldn't get blamed for babies crying in Zimbabwe.

But anyways, I think that the global warming thing, real or fabricated, is good. It finally gets people thinking that maybe, just MAYBE we could be doing things to take better care of the earth.

No I am no tree hugger.

LOL....oh man..I love southpark.

There are people out there doing wonderful things for our environment. I wouldn't expect everyone to participate. There honestly isn't much the average American can do to dramatically decrease the Global Warming effect. Meanwhile, leglislation, companies and suchforth are taking efforts to reduce emissions and such. So...I don't think anyones on the backburner of the topic, people are aware of it.

You can find climactic data from the sediments on the sea floor (via coring) or in the poles (ice sampling).

By analyzing the pollens, vegetation remains, etc, you can deduce the climate at that point in time (by carbon dating your sample).

Volcanic activity throws more pollution in the air than cars on a yearly basis....

And aren't the polar ice caps just left over ice from the ice age that just hasn't melted yet?

The global warming argument is all based on the assumption that the Earth has run the same, climate wise, for its entire existence as it has for the last hundred or so years. Any other science would tell you that any data you have to form a theory in this way is inherently inaccurate.

The polar ice caps have been frozen for much longer than the last Ice Age. So they have stored climactic data as well (small trapped air bubbles and aerosol particles) extending well beyond the last Ice Age.

We're not in an Ice Age right now, but they're still frozen.

lol do you guys know ANYTHING about gas emissions?
geez please educate yourselves better instead of making vague arguments. The reason why this is alarming is bc throughout history, the rate of global warming was a SLOW process. But now, due to the help of fuel emissions, this slow process has become a fast one. Many species are becoming extinct (aka penguins) and many have already disappeared causing alarm in the scientific world. Not just USA but throughout the world.

Animals have gone extinct throughout the existence of this planet (aka dinosaurs). You cannot say that emmisions are the reason. The planet naturally has CO2 everywhere.

If anything the global warming argument is self centered. To say that we are ruining the planet, as well as the fact that we assume that things that are bad for us (humans) is automatically bad for the environment.

I do believe that global warming is real. Today nearly all (except a few) of the world scienctis have agree that we are causing it. If you look at the research regarding Global Warming that was conducted by U.N. which was publish sometime last month, it said that this is almost 100% cause by human, the orginal paper was very harsh on what we are doing, only because U.S., China and Russia that they water it down.

I mean is like smoking...if you ask people 40 years ago ppl will say smoking is not bad for your body...

Even today, alot of people think that weed is good for u....

uhh the dinosaurs didn't get extinct bc of global warming.
Do you know the ozone layer doesn't let CO2 leave earth? the more consumption, the more warmer the planet will get.
