Setting up a sponsor

I am starting to look for sponsors for my 06 si. Anyone know a good way to get started. I am already a member of carsponsorships.com but it's not what I am looking for

I am looking to do:
Vertical Doors (by request of a bunch of friends)
Custom fiberglass stereo
Rims and Tires

You're best bet would probably go around to local shops and explain yourself and your intentions. Just keep in mind they have to get something out of it also, such as your advertisement at many shows.

Hit up a local audio shop that does good work and learn to talk your way around it. Make sure you present what you can offer. That's how I got mine.

Find someone in the industry and make friends with them. The best way to get a sponsorship is through referrals.

Once you get a solid one going, it's easier to branch out. It's also good to find people who work for magazine ads, etc. Exposure definitely helps.

I'm going to be in Honda Tuning in the next couple of months with Power Enterprises.

2 years ago when i first did it, it was stupid and could only get like a decal sponsor. Now they offer much more including a vertical doors (from vertical doors inc.), Kyowa Racing rims, Fidanza flywheels, Blaukpunkt (crappy stereo stuff), lighting, etc.. sponsorships. All the sponsorships start out as partial sponsor (like 50% off the MSRP). If you win any large car shows, they will reimburse you with up to 100% of what you paid for their products depending on what place you came in. It is the site I got my rims off of for like $300 shipped for all 4. It is a good investment if you have $50 laying around to sign up but don't waste your money if you don't have it.

unless you have something under your belt to show them it is probably going to be dificult to get a good sponsor. Companies don't usually want to just throw money at someone with ideas. I say go around and talk to as many people as possible but I wouldn't get your hopes up. A good way to start is to get those contingency sponors and build from there. Just start the show circuit and add as much as you can as fast as you can. People will start to take notice if they see you are serious about it. Good luck!
