Test Drive of 2008 Lancer Gts

Went to the dealer to take a look at a fully loaded 2008 Lancer, The drive was almost 50 miles round trip....

The first thing i noticed was the Fast Key, as long as you have it in your pocket, you twist the knob and off you go.... The paddle shifters were super responsive and easy to shift, 6 speeds......The engine has a really nice sound to it and the 650 watt Stereo was good, but think the civics might be better,

OK I am the Navi Queen.... Love the navi, all setting for light, alarm, and other features are on the navi, really cool, also you have monitors for tire rotation, oil change all on the navi, has so much more then mine....the coolest is the blue tooth, had fun playing with it......

the seats were nice and so was the dash, still love my gages more, but that navi ......fully loaded 23,600 out the door........oh and it has a DVD Standard on the navi, play robin Williams at the Apollo.

Might be on my list but not a Mitzi fan.......but that Navi!!!!!

Lancer Gts? Is that equal to the OZ Rally? I saw one on the road a few days ago and it does look nice. How much HP / TQ does it have?

Answering my own question. Just looked it up and 153hp / 148tq. GTS weighs in at 3100 pounds.

I had a chance to test drive one tonight. I liked everything in it, but the engine noise. I test drove the GTS version that was fully loaded. I did not like the interior as much as I like the Civic interior, but If its like any other Mitsu it will hold up longer. Thats just me going off of the things I have read about the Civic's interior on this site and in no way is it a knock against the Civic. The car did not seem very fast at all and it was a big let down. Mitsubishi always screws it up when it comes to power. They did the same thing with the 8th gen Galants. They made them look good, and then put a weak engine in them. The Navi is just too cool, and the RF sound system is pretty good. The ride is pretty stiff, but not as bad as I thought it would be with 18" wheels. The thing that made me really like it was the price. I would get $500 off for brand loyalty plus the Mitsu dealer has given me great deals in the past. The saleman did say that Mitsu has talked about a turbo option for the GTS and that it would be something that could be financed, but he said not to hold your breath for it. This is probably the only car that has taken some of my attention away from the Civic. The front of the Lancer looks like an 8th Gen Galant so that is a big plus for me. I am also worried about the paint on the Civic and if the new Lancer is like any of the other Mitsu cars I have no worries. Only time will tell on this though. The Civic does have the power and ride going for it though. The Lancer's ride feels down right harsh compared to the SI. All in all they are both pretty damn nice cars for the price.

Yeah the DVD was a big plus. In one of the reviews I saw they said you could watch a DVD while the car was moving, but the GTS I test drove was set up so that the DVD only worked while the car was in park. I made my comment about the engine noise based off of the amount of engine noise in my Galant. I never got a chance to here the full amount of engine noise in the Civic. Is the Civic much louder then the Lancer or just a little louder?

I started looking at these last week and they seem to have a nice bang for the buck, but the lack of power is discouraging. Had I been looking at the 4 dr Si, I definately would've considered this.
