Relax, I was expressing an opinion about a TV show (an astonishingly stupid TV show) not criticizing anyone on the forum. |

Obviously most of the people that have replied to this thread enjoy the show. The fact that you think it's "astonishingly stupid" and decide to share that with those that like it just mean you're setting yourself up to be flamed. I would say you should relax, it's just a tv show, everyone has their own likes/dislikes. If you call this "astonishingly stupid" then what the heck is a decent tv show in your opinion? No one in here was claiming it to be the best show ever, merely that it's pretty good and entertaining. |

At best, your attitude is weird, at worst its hypocritical. If you want to discuss about your show, cool. But if all you want to hear are opinions that agree with your own, then delete away. |

I think in the racing section what they're saying is that users should not be using the forum to set up races or talk about their racing exploits (on the street) |

Or am I missing something? Here we have a moderator letting us know his favorite show extolls the virtues of questionably prepared cars operated by people of equally questionable judgement on public highways. Any way you cut it, the show is stupid and irresponsible just like, uhm, street racing. Like I said, we can discuss this. Or you can delete my posts, ban me whatever. It's your forum - make it any way you want: A place for discussing different ideas or a place to express a single view point. |

^ I don't think expressing of various viewpoints is the issue here. I think (I could be wrong, and don't speak for everyone) that the problem is you've come out, like Marc said, with guns blazing. And, as for your earlier intro... uh that will suffice I suppose. But most people make a post in the intro thread showing their car, talking about who they are, their interests in 8th gens and other car stuff... they don't just start flaming a bunch of long-time members

And I'm still trying to discuss the idiocy (oops, that's inflamatory, I mean "questionable judgement") of a TV show glorifying dangerous and stupid behavior. But if you folks would rather just hear comments agreeing with your own I'll be happy to go elsewhere. By the way, we won't ban you or delete your posts on the One Lap of America bulletin board for disagreeing with us. Heck, we won't even insist you defend your position. |

@ StenoBoy:
What's your agenda here? Are you here just to advertise your forum? Your first post was so strongly worded, I thought you were getting into a fight with someone. I’m sure you would see why, as I was not the only one who reacted this way. Why am I coming down hard on you? Because past experience tells me that users that have an extremely abrasive personality will cause trouble. Case in point: this thread. Sure you’ve got a lot of certifications and accolades, and you may even be skilled and experienced; it doesn’t give you to right to be rude and obnoxious. Instead of commanding respect and (maybe) admiration from other members on this board, the response you received should be an indication of your inability to be civil and receptive in an online community. And for the record, I did not delete your post simply because you disagree with me. As I said on numerous occasions, I am a Member first, a Moderator second. That means I encourage conversation and debate, but once you step the boundary of decency and decorum, I will delete your post regardless of who you are arguing with. The rules regarding street racing on this site are strictly to govern the conversations on this forum. If you post a thread that has the sole purpose of organizing a street race, then of course that will be deleted. Let’s face it, I (and the other Staff), can only govern what goes on in cyberspace. What you do on public roads is your business. That’s why 1) You can’t setup street race meets here, and 2) You can’t brag about kills/loses outside of organized track events. I have done neither in posting this thread. I don’t think I have to explain myself further. And for the record, I did not hint at banning you. Read my posts on this thread before creating such a strong allegation. |

OK kids, I give up, I figured when you started this thread with Bullrun being your favorite show you were inviting discussion. I've continued throughout this dialog to raise the issue of popularizing street racing on TV (something I think is, uhm, wrong) but apparently all you and Si Chick want to focus on is what a rude and abrasive person I am. You're right, I am rude and abrasive and I'll try to be a better person. Honest. And yet still I think Bullrun sets a benchmark in pandering and stupidity that will be hard to beat. |

For that matter, think about shows like "Pimp My Ride"; a lot of those episodes focus on giving some 18 year old kid way too much horsepower, some sweet rims, and paint graphics and letting him loose to wreak havoc on the streets I'll stop here because I'm pretty sure this will fall on sternoboy's deaf ears. You don't really explain why, other than that street racing is bad, you think this show is so horrible. I suppose that is why I keep coming back to see maybe you'll have a better explanation. I am in no way discounting your opinion, I just think your argument could use more meat before I even start thinking about entirely agreeing with you. Okay, I'll stop here. CN: sternoboy needs a better argument as to why he thinks the show is stupid other than the fact that street racing is stupid. |

1) The drivers have (for the most part) exhibited a thorough lack of driving skill in the scored events. (Remeber the light bulb breaking thing?) 2) The drivers have indulged in dangerous stunts on public street. Case in point: the nimrod doing donunts in the Vette. And throughout the show, this kind of behavior is presented as "cool". Meanwhile, legitimate motorsports activities languish in non-televised doldrums. Consider the Alcan 5000, One Lap, the Silver State or the Targa New Foundland - are Bullrun's producers ignoring these other events because they aren't entertaining? No, it's because they haven't a clue. I spoke with two of the show's producers last September and these guys didn't know a thing about motorsports. Their only concern was to produce an "edgy reality" show centered around "fast street cars". I think with a modicum of effort Rocket Science Laboratories could have done way better. That's why I think the show is stupid. Entertaining? Sure,to some. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy "stupid" as much as next guy. I still pray for the return of Beavis and Butthead. |

I didn't say deaf... I said my comments would fall on deaf ears, it's an expression; one that I used because up until now you were pretty much ignoring everything anyone else said about this show and taking your high and mighty all-knowing place.
Did you really expect the producers to know much about cars, or motorsports, or street racing for that matter? I am not surprised. They are in the television business, aka entertainment, aka money. They, and TV execs saw an opening for a show that a good number of people would find entertaining. Does this show really bother you that much? I mean there have got to be numerous "reality" shows out there that are 10 times worse, and 10 times more popular. Maybe a show like this will spawn something even better, such as a show about those car series you mentioned. Who knows, but you got to start somewhere. |
