Very easy if you only have one, all you need is a UV light the length of his cage, and a 75 watt light bulb for we would consider the "hot spot. The reason for this is so he can heat up and then if he likes can move to a cooler area so not to overheat. Also the uv light provides ESSENTIAL vitams they need. Without it they do not produce nitrogen (yes lizards have NOSS) i can show you a pick of the white poop =:}..anyhow lol...they eat 15 to crickets a day, and there tank must be about 55 gallon, length is more important. to start off your only going to spend 150 incuding tank lizard lights and please do not put it on sand until its at least 9 months old, just use a papertowl. Also need a rock for there claws. At about 1 year old you can honestly built such a good bond you can put them on your shoulder and drive down the road and they will not move. You can walk them also..they love the sun..

I had one for a couple of months but my mom forgot to turn of the light when I was at camp and fried it to death. That video was kind of funny when he did the wave thingy with his arm

Timer is the best, and on sunny days i turn them all of and let him bask on a rock outside in a homemade cage..he loves it and it saves me money..sorry to hear about your bearded dragon. It is not the fact that your mom did not turn off the lights, the cage was to small. He reaally had no 'Cool spot" to run too if he was getting hot. I have one in a 100 gallon tank and I never turn off the light..Cage size is a must with these =:] Also something for them to run under is nice as well..one more very important thing is to make them drink for the first week. easily done just dunk there head under there water in the bowl this wont hurt him and it will help him remember there is water in the cage.
