I dig, I dig... DnB has its own little niche, I love most of what I hear from it too! Dubstep is incredible as well...

It's cool, honestly. I have, like I said, a minimalistic setup.

Had I gone full out? I would've gotten 2 Technics 1200's ($900), a vestax mixer ($450) and an MPC2500 ($2000).

These setups can be a LOT of money... like you said!

Man I gotta get back into DJing again. I have a pair of Tech 1200M3D's w/Shure M35 needles, Behringer DJX-700 mixer (just to learn on and haven't upgraded since), Tech RP-DJ1200 headphones, Klipsch RB-35 speakers run off a Rotel 2ch amp (120w/ch) and about 150 or so records. Mainly hard progressive trance but got some house, DnB, trance etc mixed in. I prefer harder aggressive stuff. Never really mastered them and then moved. Just haven't set the setup up yet.

I plan to start producing uplifting trance and regular trance, some of my biggest inspirations are maor levi, armin van burren and anjunabeats records.

I just gotta figure out fruity loops first.

Check out maor levi's myspace: http://www.myspace.com/maorlevi

don't listen to the first song though that plays immediately, it sux.

I love all kinds of trance except the ones that are full of cheese. Do you guys agree that trance is dying?

Not really, Armin Van Burren hosts a weekly radio show that airs every thursday called A State of Trance. And Anjunabeats record label is doing big things over their in Europe also.

Oh..I meant here in the U.S. Seems that house is the one that dominates. I always stick to my guns with Trance/Hard Techno. I love tech/trance.

I definitely don't think Trance is dying or dead. Trance as I see it is like Rock and Roll. R&R isn't dead but it's hard to say that a band is R&R and not some form of. Just like Trance, there's so many sub-genres that it's hard to call something Trance anymore and not Progressive Trance, Epic Trance, etc.

edit: Keep in mind that I also sell beats. It's very sporadic (otherwise I wouldn't really have the need for a job, haha) but when I do, it's anywhere from 400-1000 depending on the scale of the project/album, how much I can pump out of the artist ( ), label costs, etc...

That's so fresh... I'll add you and a dnbsi whenever I get off of school/work today.

I'll occasionally hook up with rappers on myspace, but lately it has been more word of mouth than anything. Knowing the right people helps more than pure talent these days it seems, so luckily I have been blessed enough to make some good hook ups with rappers, other producers, interns at labels, etc... Making beats is just something I do for fun, what I really love to do is skateboard been doing it 6 years strong, wouldn't give it up for anything!

Trance definitely isn't dead. It definitely isn't as popular as house is here in the states, but it has its own dedicated community. Claiming any genre music as dead is ridiculous to me (I'm looking at you, Nas, though his viewpoint isn't so much literal as it is stating what is wrong with commercial hip-hop today, which I completely agree with.)

But I digress...
