2007 NY Auto Show

I went to the NY International auto show today. Did anyone else attend?

Here a is a quick summary:
Toyota is on a rampage. I don't see what can stop them from becoming the #1 auto maker in NA. They're attacking every auto segment with fresh sheet metal. The Tundra ads seem to be working because there were tons of folks climbing in and out of those beasts. The Scion division has introduced two new models; the xD which is to compete against the Fit and a redesigned Xb.
I couldn't get too close to the Lexus' because I was feeling claustrophobic around the clamoring show-goers.

Honda/Acura: With the exception of the S2000 CR, Honda's exhibit was pretty boring considering th quality of the vehicles. The Accord has grown long in the tooth and is primed for a refresh. The Accord coupe concept looks like a larger G37.

Ford showed off the Interceptor concept, which is based on the Mustang. It pumps about 400 horses on E85.

The Chevy Camaro will in fact go from conceptualized wet dream to sex on wheels.

Lamborghini's Superleggera exhibit had a museum feel to it thanks in no small part to the winding queue. This thing can do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds...

Jeep had the biggest and best exhibit; right in front of the Javits Convention Center. The 2007 Rubicon Unlimited was showcased interactively. Attendees got free rides around a track which highlighted the Rubicon's climbing and downhill braking prowess.

A large part of the lower level was dedicated to minivans and trucks. Frankly, I was surprised to see so many folks checking out the pickups. I know that trucks outsell cars in the US, but it looks like the marketing blitz by the likes of Toyota, Ford and Chevy are working. The competition is going to heat-up as Ford's F series tries to defend the bastion of its truck sales.

The show is freakin' huge and i highly recommend it.

Sounds fun, I've been to something similar in Orlando.
