So I was thinking about trading....

Okay, as many of you know, I work for Toyota...and on a daily basis..I get to look at the all new 2007 Tundra...and i'm absolutely in love with it...I talked to my Used Car Manager...and I can get about 17k for my SI...I owe about 19k..but I was thinking about leasing the Tundra..really low money factor right now...But anywho..just thought I would get you guys thoughts on this..I don't really NEED a truck..but it's not just a truck..I think it would be just as fun as the SI to drive..Here's some specs on one that I have in stock...it's a black one...

5.7l 381hp
13.9 inch disc brakes
6 spd tranny
fully loaded on the inside...
TRD Off-Road package (which includes Bilstein shocks, 18' rims and tires, and a few other things) Not 4wd model..but I don't need that anyways... Here's some pics of the truck incase some of you haven't seen it...just picture it in black.

It would be that same style...a double cab..SR5 model..

P.S. And i'm not trying to get attention, i've been seriously contemplating this for about 3 days now...

Tundra's are bad ass but as fun to drive as an SI? Completely different and hard to compare the two. Personally, I have no real use for a truck so I say SI!

Yeah, totally different vehicles..but i'm saying as far as sitting up high..instead of really low to the ground...instead of worrying about getting run over..I run over them :) and 381hp!! Yippee!

I've been there. I came from a 02 silverado, I loved that truck, it was nice having all the torque under your right foot. The decided factor for me to get rid of it was fuel prices. I hate putting $65 in the tank every 4-5 days. I bet your mind is a reck right about now. If I had to look at a brand new Tundra day in and day out, I'd get tempted to. Grass is always greener on the other side. Question you have to ask yourself is, Is more of a need than a want??? Not an easy choice. Good luck with your choice

Have fun with the gas mileage in that thing this summer. You will be kicking yourself. The only people who NEED a truck like that are people who actually use it for what it was designed for. You know hauling stuff, like a contractor. The other 99 percent of people have no business buying that thing.

Keep your Si.

That is a very pretty truck but I just don't like big vehicles. I had minivans when my girls were little (I know, no comparison) and I couldn't wait to get into a car, specifically a small car. Good luck with whatever you decide.

What attracted you to your Si in the first place? Why would you take that kind of a loss on your brand new car?

I suppose I just have a hard time justifying buying a new car and taking that kind of a loss by trading it in that soon. It simply doesn't make sense to me unless you won the lottery, or have a serious financial need to dump your payments (serious enough to lose thousands). I'm also not huge on trucks unless you have a requirement to tow something or bring a lot of equipment around on a very frequent basis.

You say you think it would be just as fun as the Si to drive. I trust you've driven this truck already?

Fun in a different way...but still fun all the same..Of course i've driven it..I drive them every day...and it's only a 2k loss on the trade..it's not that bad...and with the money factor, and the residuals on the lease...It won't even effect my payment...pretty much the same payment to drive that...

my buddy just bought a black tundra TRD. That thing is sick and i love it. I love my SI to death but if you want a truck, and you can get a great deal, the tundra is the truck to get! My buddy's has 20in black wheels with chrome lip...bad ass.

I saw the commercial of that truck so decided to go test drive. It was totally different situation from other trucks out there( ford F150, nissan Titan and etc.) wow. its just an amazing feeling with smooth ride and all leather inside and you can lay back on the back seat. Its really roomy at least 6 people fit in. Go for it! you won't regret!

Look at the pictures of the inside. Need I say more?

BUT!

why not Ridgeline?

You say there is 19K left on the loan, you could get 17K for it. So you would have to come up with $2000 just to say goodbye to the car and have nothing to show for the money you've spent other than being able to say you had it for X days.

How long have you had the car, and what did you pay out the door for it?

take that number, subtract 17000.

I'm sure that's more than $2000. Not only that, take that number, divide it by the number of months you've had the car, and see how much it has cost you per month. Perhaps it's different for you depending on how much tax you paid on the car, but I paid 14% tax, which I'll never get back.. plus freight.. plus other fees.

As it stands, if I sold my car for the Canadian MSRP, I'd have lost about $5000 CAD.

Yikes!

Ridgeline is way overpriced to get the things I want...37k Ridgeline. vs. 37k Tundra.

3.5l 244hp vs. 5.7l 381hp
like 10" rotors vs 13.9" rotors
The room in the Tundra is overwhelmingly bigger...it's a bigger truck overall...has a bigger stance...Man, I just went and looked at again...IT'S SO NICE!!! We just got a different one in today, in the blue color...only 33k for a extremely nice truck..5.7l, step boards, fender flares, back-up sensors, rear camera, I can get it for about 30k..

Well, that's just something I'd have to live with..I think i'd be happy in the truck regardless..and to add to the burn...spending about 3,500 dollars on aftermarket stuff for my SI!!

And I don't have to put any money down with the truck..no out of pocket...and it's only like 60 dollars more a month!!???

You know, when I worked at Acura, I had to deal with the fact that I wanted the TL so bad it hurt but I had an SI. I love the TL. When the Type S came out it took my love to a near obsessive level. But I still own my Si. I couldn't trade it in. To do so would be a frivilous move IMO. I get great gas mileage in a quick and spirited car that is gorgeous to look at. I'm happy with what I have and I know that if I got rid of the Si, even for the TL-S, I would be kicking myself in the butt aftwards.

But I would trade the Volvo in for it. Then I could keep the meanie.
