I am jealous that they can afford all those chains. If I could afford those chains, I wouldn't buy it, rather spend it on my car. hahaha

Wow. That's a gross overgeneralization, if I ever saw one. I know lots of people that dress like that and are actually more engaging and interesting to converse with than folks in suits.

It's one thing when they dress the part, but it's a whole new ball game when they act it too. Those are the one's I can't stand.

People that dress like that are books that are too easy to judge by the cover. They're just asking for it.

I don't think it is overgeneralizing.

I have never met one person in my life who dressed like that who was a remotely intelligent individual.

That's not to say they aren't out there, but most of them have this ganster attitude, and they judge me for being ***.

I'd rather be *** and at least dress the part for my body than be "gangsta" even if that's the "cool thing to do".

I don't feel comfortable around them either, in a safety manner of speaking. Most of them seem to be outrageously homophobic, insanely aggressive, and bigoted to a degree that would make Fred Phelps cry.

Okay maybe not THAT bigoted, but you know what I'm saying.

Perhaps I am stereotyping, but I need to be proven wrong if that is the case.

This is a perfect reason on why I am not overgeneralizing. He just proved my argument.

EDIT: to answer an nonmentioned question, the colors red and blue are often used as gang colors, and they don't even want to risk it. My middle school back in my homtown banned hoodies because the kids were pushing pills and drugs in the middle of class. Mind you, I live in one of the smallest areas in the world (well, did).

It's usually at that point that I find a blunt object and ram my face into it as hard as can and pray for humanity.

damn, sorry about using *** in that context. I know i just added to your argument...but I'm not homophobic at all. I have *** family members and friends. I'm just used to using it in that context because people my age always do it and it's rubbed off...unfortunately. When my friends or I use it though, it doesn't have anything to do with sexual preference...its just slang

and I know about the red/blue color controversy... i just think its stupid to ban colors (i understand why they would though)

PS: self expression in clothing style doesnt reflect intelligence. One of my best friends dresses in baggy clothes, jerseys, etc...and he got a 2200 on his SATs and has like a 4.3 GPA. I used to dress like this (just not so extremely wigger-ish) and had a 4.7 GPA and I'm getting a full ride scholarship. I know it's hard not to because there's a lot of idiots out there, but making generalizations about people because of what they look like is just ridiculous...

I know it doesn't reflect intelligence, but for me, I am slightly uncomfortable and afraid for safety around people that dress and act like that, because stereotypes, and personal encounters, have reinforced a belief for me that they are all aggressive.

People make generalizations about *** people all the time, especially *** men, and a lot of us are not the Richard Simmon's types we're made out to be, so I know all about generalizations. Sometimes its just hard to get past them because they are so widespread. That doesn't make it right, but.
