I just moved, or how I threw my back out, or Comcast sucks!
I just moved into a new townhouse over the weekend. We got the keys a couple weeks ago, but officially moved in on Saturday. We started moving things with a Honda Pilot (I had a thread about that last week) then got the bulk of our stuff in with a Uhaul on Saturday.
The move went pretty smoothly but I really pulled my back moving a TV upstairs. My bedroom TV is a 32 inch CRT that weighs damn near 200 lbs. I had help, but I ended up being the one on top pulling while bent over, step by step. I could barely move yesterday so I took the day off to get some rest. We've had a bunch of problems so far, but hopefully they'll be resolved soon. We had our cable installed on Friday afternoon and the guy told us he wouldn't be able to close out the job until that evening, so it wouldn't work until then. That wasn't a big deal since we weren't moved in yet, but he couldn't check to see if anything was working. We found out on Saturday that the jobs for our disconnect and new installation weren't closed so the boxes and modem were still on the old account, so nothing worked. They got this fixed by Sunday, kinda. Everything was put on the new account however the HDTV DVR box in the living room didn't work and the modem was stuck in their "walled garden" which is a proxy page you can't get past until the modem is provisioned on your account. After checking the wiring, I found that the DVR box was plugged in correctly to the outlet, but the cable that runs through the wall didn't go anywhere and wasn't connected to anything, just another splitter in a utility closet. Someone came out yesterday to take care of that, but we still can't get online... since Friday. It's ridiculous at this point, and if it's not working when I get home, I'm going to raise hell when I call back. I'd cancel and switch to Verizon, but I know they're no better. To make matters worse, our heater went out on Sunday. We noticed the thermostat's display was dead. We were planning to replace it anyway, so I did that and it didn't work either. I hooked the old one back up, still nothing. So I called and someone came out yesterday and found a blown fuse in the heater. He changed it and everything came back on. I then put the new thermostat back on and it's been fine since. Luckily it didn't get too cold on Sunday night. Anyway, here's a video of the new place before we moved in, so it was totally empty. A lot of our stuff is still in boxes sitting out, so it's not feeling like home yet. I'll post pics or another video once we're settled in. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...67521940&hl=en |
