Hey do cops do this?

I'm just curious because I'm paranoid about cops lately with my hids. Well I've past by 3-4 cops so far on the road this week, but my 5th was the most serious test. Today just ahead in the left turn lane is a cop and well since that was the way I was going, I decided its now or never to test it. So I drove up behind him, light on everything. I personally don't think my light goes into the cabin so no problem right? Well after we turn the cop starts going really slowly, like 45-50km/hr so I'm driving around there too, but as we come up to a 60km sign proving the speed I thought it would look more suspicious to go too slow.

So I start passing the cop car and soon after he goes right behind me. I'm thinking oh shit....um how much can I sell my hid kit for now.. fizz.. etc. But he doesn't do anything. I think he tailed me for a bit and this is what I'm wondering. Mordekyle, maybe you can answer this? do cops go behind you so they can read your plate and run it through the system? were they making notes on my car or just checking if i were one of the local suspicious characters with a history? or where they doing that then making notes on the system, or am I completely paranoid?

Thanks.

#1 thing, don't pull up behind a cop and stay there, he is going to for sure think you're up to somthing *grins* Don't follow a police officer.

You followed him, he follows you, lucky you didn't do that in Bradford...

If you don't do anythign wrong, no worries, they can't pull you over for driving your car. Even if they brign up your plate and pull you over, they can't say, well sir , I was following you and ran your plate and it came up , blah blah, the judge will laugh them out of court (In Ontario that's how it goes)

If your car is stolen, then , RUN!

If you think you're goign to get in trouble for having HIDS, why did you get them?

I hate people who hav ehids comign up in the other lane, freakin blinds you. So I don't get them, I'm going to mount a billion candle search light to the roof of my Civic and blnd all those truckers and large*ss pickups that blast our cabin with their beams.. the &astards..

hee ee

he was checking your license plate and running it through the computer to see if it was legit and everything checked out ok. honda civics tend to be some of the most stolen cars ever. and that officer may not have know the difference between the new civics and the old ones. nothin really to be worried about, its hard to read those plate(especially at night) he was probably just getting behind you so his head lights would light up your plate and he could read it.

wrong. if a plate comes up stolen, outstanding tickets ect ect ect, that is probable cause to pull you over.

This is so true. When I made the change from American cars to imports I thought I was just getting profiled. In reality police officers know what cars get stolen the most and want to check and make sure everything is legit. IT might be a little nerve racking but doesn't it make you feel better to know that if someone stole your car there are people on the look out for it? I have had my cars stolen several times and twice they were recovered just because a officer decided to run the tags on the car. IMO its a good thing.

I always figured they were running the plates. The few times I've been pulled over in the FG, they always ask the same question....Is this YOUR car? lol...what, a 40 year old can't drive a modded Si....lol Never got that question in my other cars but after your explanation there it makes sense
