What should I do?

Well right now I drive an hour to school every other day, then come home and go straight to work. I work about 30 hours a week and have classes at night also at the nearby community college. I basically have no free time during the week. Anyways, I'm not doing too well in classes anymore. I feel like I'm loosing focus and gettin distracted too easily with friends and such around here. I'm starting to think I want to move to the area my schools in and just focus on school, maybe a small job. But I wanna know from you guys that moved away for college if it would really help me focus and get serious about school or not. Dont' worry about my car payment, I've got that taken care of. I'm more concerned about the school aspect of it. I need to pull myself out of this hole I'm in right now.

This is mama talking now...do whatever it takes for you to do well in school and get a good education. Your education will last you a lifetime--the fun with friends is only for the moment. What kind of job do you have now and is that the kind of job you want to have for the rest of your life. Does the job you want require an education? Bottom line, stay in school, get your education, then celebrate.

Do everything you can to get your degree, even if that means moving away from home and all of the distractions in your life. I've had friends that tried to commute to school and many of them never finished school. You really need to be at college to be "in college" in my opinion, since you will be surrounded by others just like yourself trying to earn a degree and better themselves. It is much easier to study and stay focused in school when you are surrounded by people in your same situation. Your "back home" friends probably aren't in school and won't understand your situation, for example, some nights you will have to study while they are out on the town.

Remember college is just a few years but it will help open doors for you the rest of your life! There will be plenty of time to play later when you have more money after college )

If you moved, would you be keeping your current job? It sounds like you make the trip out to class every night (which probably makes it worse to drive at night after a long day of work). If you moved, would you then travel during the day an hour to your current job, then back home and goto class? If so, I think it would be smart. School is an hour away and just becomes a hassle depending on your mood. Work is your paycheck. You'll make sure you get there whether you drive a minute or an hour.

EDIT: Didn't read that well...I see now that you take CC classes at night and your reg classes during the day. I guess it still applies, as long as there is no insane gap between when you get off work, and when you attend your CC class. If so, then at least you have some spare time to get some out of class work done, or to just relax. At least you wouldn't be skipping your CC class since you're there for work also, and then of course regular class is right where you would be living.

Well I actually live in between school and work. School is an hour one way, and work is half an hour the opposite way. I was also contemplating on switching schools to one that's near my job and moving down that way because I love my job, but I'm not sure I'd get accepted into the school

Dude focus on school, there are so many adults who wish they could have gone back in time and done better in school

No harm in sending an application. Although, I'd probably rather attend the school and find the job where the school is at, unless your job is pretty nice (which it might be since you said it pays pretty well).

Might I suggest maybe taking a couple of personal days (if you have them) and take some time after your classes to search for some job opportunities by your school (that is if you have no time between getting off school and going to work). I'm assuming you have already looked into living arrangements, so once you land your job, put in your 2 weeks, say you can start your new one in two weeks or so, and get to moving :)

I honestly haven't looked into anything yet. It's just been an idea I've been kicking around. I live at home with my parents right now and need to present the idea to them and see what they say before I do anything about it.
