Using the SEARCH button

Ok i've came to notice the search button sucks... yeah its true, when I was searching for the "picture rice thread" I entered "rice" cause it had it in the thread title, 20 pages come up. When you use the search button it finds that word in the thread, so since 200+ threads had the word rice in it it brought up them all. I think when you search it should just be the thread name not all the stuff inside the thread. Seems really confusing what i just said but maybe someone will know what im talking about. Maybe this is why people dont use the search button.

Well, you can go into each section (Introduction, Water Cooler, Garage, etc) and do a search from there. The hits you get will only be from those sub-sections, so you'll effectively narrow down the results. If you do a search from the 8thcivic main forum index, it will do a meta-search for the entire site (content and titles).

It's an effective tool if you use it properly

Click on "Search" -> Click on "Advanced Search"

Under key words, you can specify to search for matching key words in the titles of the threads and you can even narrow it down to the specific forum to be searched in.

sometimes you wont get the answer or thread you are looking for the first try. It takes multiple searches of different related keywords to conduct an effective search

It gets annoying seeing the same questions about CAIs, gas mileage, insurance, etc.
