Exclamation help on car insurance!!

ok..ive had state farm for over 10yrs now and my payments for my 06 Si since i got it on 12/31/05 has been in the $580 area...i recently got my new statement for my insurance and it went UP!! its over $600 now! i havent gotten a hold of my insurance agent yet but im definitely going to leave if that price doesnt go down.

SOoooOOoooo.....now i need all of your help. Which insurance company do you currently have for your car and how much do you pay? Im in the Illinois area and am 28yrs old. Any recommendations that would save me more money, yet give me the same full premium coverage???

did your insurance go up as well???

580 6/mth? So you don't have any tickets or accidents since your last renewal, its a totally unexplained increase? I doubt they'd drop the price, IIRC your premium has to do with alot of factor beyond your control. Also, I had two tickets and it took more than a year to reflect on my policy, so long that I had forgotten all about them but nonetheless, there they are
(its my own fault).

well i just talked to (im guessing) the secretary of my insurance agent. my previous insurance was $577 and it went up to $607. she said the increase is due to the rate increase of the car itself and has nothing to do with my driving or anything (i hope not since i havent gotten any violations in years *knock on wood*). sooooo....i guess the rates for the civics went up this year....has anyone elses car insurance gone up this year??

I have State Farm too...if those bastards raise the premium on me...well...I'd probably still stay with them...just because it would be still be cheaper than anyone else...I only pay 91/month..and I have the worst driving record ever...Sooo..I think it might have been a glitch in the system...but i'm not gonna complain about it..if it goes up like 5-10 dollars a month...It's not that big of a increase IMO to freak out and start switching companies...State Farm really gets things handled...I got into an accident..and I had a check in my hand within 3 days...I don't think any other company could have got it done that fast...

ya i guess your right....mine USED to be 91/mo till those bastards just raised it so dont be surprised the next time u have to renew your insurance. i just called all-state insurance and those punks quoted me at $710 so i think ill just stay with state farm.

esurance is the same price without uninsured 50k/100k bodily injury coverage so it looks like state farm still has the advantage.

Check out this link. It's pretty interesting how they calculate discounts/increases depending on what car you drive.

State Farm Vehicle Ratings

I to have State Farm. We pay just over $600 every 6 months for two cars (and my wife has a lead foot!). We also have our homeowners insurance through them as well as a jewelry policy.

I couldn't afford to leave State Farm because of all the discounts we get. Plus I have been with them for over 13 years.

Dude. If you have Triple-A (AAA) I'd recommend getting a quote through them. More times than not, it's cheaper than going directly to an insurance agency. I used AAA to get my insurance done. I am paying 600 under Travelers Insurance, which is the lowest I've gotten out of the ones I checked out (at least 50-100 less than the cheapest one). Just thought you'd might want to check that out. If you don't have AAA, perhaps you'd consider signing up. I'm not tryin to push em, but they also offer roadside assistance and discounts in a lot of places. I get discounts at NAPA Autoparts and Disney World all the time. Mickey Mouse FTW! Lol

I have Drive by Progressive since Erie dropped me (2 accidents in 3 years)

My premium is about 680/6 mos. Which was about what I was paying iwht Erie even before my accidents.

250/500 deductibles

My friend has Progressive as well and just a couple of weeks ago some ice slid off of his roof and onto his 06 Accord. Progressive was great in setting up the rental car and garage. He probably missed about an hour of work total to get the car to the garage and pick it up when it was done.

If you use the garage recommended by Progressive, they will guarantee the work

Yeah, but that's only on the liability index. It's a E on the damage and theft index!

Insurance companies have to raise premiums every once and a while, just like how prices go up for other things as well. Its called inflation. ALso they may have to adjust it just cause they have to make money

if its not ridiculously higher, I'd consider not changin, state farm and other companies (AAA, Farmers Insurance) aren't as likely to deny a claim as a company like AIG or Mercury or some of those other companies.
