An officer from the department I work in has been nominated as Americas Most Wanted All-Star. Now, I know a lot of people don't particularly care for police officers and if you're not interested in voting for whatever reason, that's fine. I respect your choice. On May 4, 2006 Officers Joseph Diman and Gary Buro were responding to a domestic disturbance call when one of the suspects involved in the dispute took out a gun and began shooting at the officers. Officer Buro was immediately struck and fatally injured. Officer Diman returned fire at the suspect. During the gunfight, Officer Diman was shot in the chest and hand, causing him to drop his firearm. While trying to retreat, he was shot three more times, and then turned to engage in hand to hand combat with the gunman. He was finally able to over-power the gunman and handcuff him. This All Star was awarded the Medal of Valor, the Purple Heart and the Combat Ribbon for his heroic actions.

woooow. i hate to hear of these things, but im glad officer diman was able to go home to his family.

he was a nypd officer and was working during 9-11. his wife and her parents were killed in a car accident while she was visiting them in fla. thats when he came to va. it will be a year in may that this happened and I still remember the phone call in the middle of the night from communications

sgt mcentee was a mentor to me when i was an explorer
