Only time will tell, but it's very possible that boobies and money shots will be responsible for the demise of Blue-Ray.
Are you sure about that? I thought Vivid Video had signed on for the first release (feature adult film) for Blu-Ray. I don't want to link to a porn site so I'll try to find some other sources first. As for HD-DVD I haven't heard/read about anything on the horizon from them.

To me, it is still a long shot from over. Please enjoy whatever fit your bills for now..!
Both links are good reads. The first one is from early December which is barely after the PS3 release and right at the end of all of Sony's manufacturing problems, but I think it doesn't paint a clear picture of the market now (almost 4 months later).

The second one isn't too bad as different people bring up good arguments. Although the Microsoft add on HD-DVD is a good price I think it's a joke as it seems like it was their last minute response to Sony's Blu-ray. You still can't (and probably never will) have HD-DVD games which would be more suitable storage wise as you would be able to store more info out of an HD-DVD vs. a regular DVD.

It'll be a while to see the clear winner of HD-DVD and BD..!

Just get whatever fit the bills for now and enjoy it..!

For now, Xbox 360 and its HD-DVD add-on fit my bills and my needs. It is worth it for our current HD needs..!

I don't want to link to porn sites either (especially at work), so I'll just reference Slashdot here.

According to this article, Digital Playground was originally committed to Blu-Ray, but Sony wouldn't license the technology for porn, so they went with HD-DVD instead.

That's the article I recall reading, but while searching for it I found this one. This says that while Sony is still refusing to license Blu-Ray to the porn industry, Vivid Video has replicated the technology and can release flicks in both next-gen formats. So I guess it could go either way here.

not letting porn go BD would be Sony's biggest downfall in this war.

new06civic - What fits the bill for me is my Denon DVD player that upconverts better than any HD DVD or BD player out right now. Denon FTW! Yes I've done side by side comparisons on the same TV with the same DVD playing to know.

If you are happy w/ it, please enjoy it..!

I installed the BD player on my Godfather's 50" Samsung plasma and Denon DVD player on my wife’s 73" Mitsu DLP , but I prefer the HD add-on.

I purchased the Xbox 360 and its HD add-on; because it gives me the ability to play HD movies, play games (online and HD games), up-converts standard DVDs and connects to my HTPC. The HD movies on HD add-on is better than any HD movies I have seen. It is merely above $500 of total cost; which included Xbox 360, HD add-on, wireless game controller and wireless remote control and HD movie..!

I agree completely. Sony wouldn't license Beta to the porn industry and look what happened. You would think after Beta and MiniDisc, they'd learn a better way to market a new technology.

Yes, that is right. Here is the info on it:

Xbox 360 Elite

I'll stick with the current 20g hard drive and component video for now. It works fine and I don't have a need for the 120g. I use it for movies only.

Ok so i know this thread is back from the dead but im looking into buying an hd plasma and this is one of the cheapest ive found and it looks pretty good. What do you guys think.

http://www.fotoconnection.com/viewit...&RefTag=nextag

Anyone own this one? Feedback would be nice since im kinda new to hd and ive heard that the only difference between 720p and 1080p can only be seen when you are close up.

Panasonic is a decent plasma for the buck. The 600 is at least a quality model by them but seriously, ONLY BUY FROM AUTHORIZED DEALERS! Do not trust any and every site you find online. You'll get screwed more times than not. Plus, what does a camera place know of TV's? That's like buying a refrigerator from a GameStop... wouldn't make sense would it?

upgrade your cables that connect to the xbox and the tv. 720p has a better picture than 1080i. the cables that i'm talking about is the component cables. thats the red green and blue cables. after that you should all set. i know this cause i used to work at sears

panasonic is one of the best plasma to go with, they never have issues. they don't have burn in. ( burn in is when you're watching the news and the little info on the bottom scrolls by, and once you've changed the channel the text still shows up, also they don't get hot as other plasmas) if i was you i would go with samsungs new 1080p lcd. lcd last longer than plasmas. hope i helped you out nocturnal_si.
