To Anyone who usually makes calls to china...

Okay my gf is in kunming china for study abroad. She gave me a number that looks like this:

(1388)574983

Granted this is not the # she gave me (because i know there are shitheads out there), but it is the same length and the 1388 is accurate.

I have tried calling her, via international calling cards, to no avail.

From what i have found out on the net, i have to dial

011 (international code) + 86 (china country code) + 871 (kunming city code) plus the number she gave me. It still has not worked. I'm very frustrated about this. I have tried any number of variations to no avail. Does anyone have experience in these matters?

Her # is a cell number, i have tried putting a 0 in front of the city code, because of what i have read to do this to reach chinese cells on other forums. Didn't work either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

try dropping the 1 from the 1388.

as far as i know, u don't dial the city code. try w/o it.

did that too, you have to have that 871 in there to direct the call to yunan. Thanks though...

dude,,,using 01186+the cellphone # u wanna call..no need for area code if cell....
one doubt,,, in my hometown cellphone# usually have 11#s,,,,,in ohter area is not the same,,,,so make sure that number is correct..
