eye laser surgery-LASIK

I've been wearing contacts for 3 yrs now and have had the same prescription for the same period of time. However, i recently had an incident with this girl i was getting lucky with and my left contact somehow fell off my eye and i had one good eye and the other i had blurry vision while we were ...yeah
So i was considering eye laser surgery but i don't know whether it is good or not? I don't want to deal w/contacts anymore but then again i don't knowhow much it would cost to correct both my eyes...
Anyone have any input or have had their eyes fixed by this surgery?
Anything would be greatly appreciated

My grandma had this done. Now she sees everything I do wrong.

Obviously good results.

I've read on their website for oculists that they range from 500 to 6000 per eye.
And I'm getting 3G on my tax return but 2G are going for somethng else i have in mind...
leaving me with 1G and adding like 500 more or so...overall my budget is like 1500-1700.
Are there any complications with this procedure though?
I don't wanna keep coming back for the same procedure.
Can my insurance cover this surgery?

friend of mine had 550 on left 450 on right and wears glasses all her life. she had it done by lasik. took less than 40 mins to get both eyes done. now she says it's like she has this brand new eyes.
u should consider it but kinda pricey i think.

Isn't it $1,000 for both eyes?

Anyways, I heard that discomfort is minimal... much like having a grain of sand in your eye for like 1 day.

It's not covered by any insurance that I've ever heard of. It cost me about $1500 per eye. I financed some of it, but like I said, it's worth every single dollar that you'll spend.

I had a LASEK procedure instead of LASIK because my corneas are thinner than average. There was more pain and longer recovery with that procedure, but I still didn't care.

Damn I wanna finance it as well if it costs too much...
I know some people need to wear sunglasses for about a whole 24 hours after the procedure

I slept for about the next 15 hours after my procedure. They give you Valium for the procedure itself, but I took mine just a few short minutes before they were actually operating on my eyes, so it hadn't even taken effect before they started. I was glad to have it for the sleep and irritation after. It felt like sand in my eyes. And they taped protective goggles to my face so that I didn't rub or touch my eyes while I slept. Because I didn't have the LASIK, I wasn't able to drive myself to the appointment the next morning, but many people see well enough to do that.

Lasik custom-vue procedure here. Seems like the same procedure Tim had.

I believe the final cost was around 3200... Worth every penny. Now I don't have to put on any glasses when I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I can wear sunglasses., etc...

I would highly recommend, almost no side effects.

Hey Tim, do you have a tint waiver for your car(s)?
I've legally got 15% all around and a layer of 50% on my whole windshield.

I did it about 2 years ago, $1800 per eye, insurance covered less than 10%. Totally worth every penny.

You can get that?! I don't have one, but I'd like that. I'm not sure if that kind of thing is available in California though.

The only MINOR drawback that I've ever experienced is some halo/starring with artificial lights at night. But even that's improved over time.

Insurance wont cover it, bc its considered cosmetic. You do however get a discount. Nothing too big but at least its something. This procedure should not be something you shop around for in terms of price. You need to search out a reputable doctor who has done the procedure many times. Get his record, find out if he is someone that is fighting malpractice suits. These are YOUR eyes and you only get one pair. Make sure you go with the right doctor and not the right price. In my area, a good Dr. will charge anywhere from 1800-2200 for normal Lasik and upwards of 3500 for custom Lasik, PER eye. Hope this helps. I personally am going to be doing this operation within the next month or so.

Had LASIK done around last august-ish. The total cost for both eyes was 4800, but there are places you could get it done at for probably 2000. That being said, bluedevilSI is right, you only get one shot at this...don't skimp on the price. Do your research about good doctors and just as important, hardware! The doctor doesn't do a whole lot during the procedure, but his laser does. I was fortunate to live in Atl where Emory Vision has (as of last year) the most advanced laser correction machine out.

As far as the actual procedure it was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad. They offer you a valium if you want but I declined. Once I layed down at the laser I was out of there in about 10 minutes. My vision was blurry for a day or two and I needed to carry eye drops around with me for a good two months.....but now everything is all good. 20/15 in both eyes and worth every penny I paid for it. There's just nothing better than not having to put contacts in at 7 o'clock in the morning. Good luck man.
