Did/Do Your Parents SUCK?

Mine do.

I have to go out of my way to do something special to spend money, except on food, gas, and car payments

*debates getting his own line of credit*

What say you?

Werd! Your parents don't owe you s*it! They put a roof over your head and food in your mouth for 18 years! You need a good !

My parents paid for very little of my expenses as a teenager and young adult. They did pay for college and I am forever in their debt for that!

Oh man, I could flame all day on this, but I won't

On a side note: you will be gratful later that they did NOT buy you everything your heart desires. I know people's parents who did and they are now incapable of doing anything for themselves...

age 18, what do you expect...
hopefully you'll grow up real quick and realize that the best thing your parents could do is cut you off...
i'm 24, have paid and worked hard for both my degrees, my car, and my good life.... had it been handed to me on a platter, i'd have ended up not working nearly as hard

anyway, 18, with an Si... wish i had that kind of money, oh wait, i did, spent it all at university (and thank god i did!)

Im 18 next month and I have an SI! My parents are great, I would never say they suck. They've been there for my every need so far, I really dont need to pay for anything. They're paying for my college next year and after that I hope they will stop helping me out and let me experience the real world.

You have to be kidding me

My parents were fukall. I raised myself, basically, since age 5. I started working at 11 years old and have paid for everything myself since. I had a roof over my head at age 11 until high school but you could count on something being out, either the electric, water, or the rent upon which we'd have to move to another dump. Some of you young guys on here need to shut the fuk up, quit bitching about your parents, and grow up. Your generation is one of a bunch of spoiled, overly concerned with looks and "pimping" than any generation I've read about or seen. If your parents do anything for you then you need to thank your lucky stars.

+1 and I'm part of that generation, even though I wish I wasn't

I get my insurance paid for by my parents and I thank them all the time. For that reason my car is their car. If they ever need to borrow it or need me to help with something I'm there.

People who only look at the things their parents do to keep them in line as bad things need a dose of reality.

I have 2 jobs.
The first one is part time and pays 11/hour
Second one pays 11.25/hour, But No full time option

Is it so wrong to ask for sympathy when i want something

Oh yeah, I'm not a normal kid. I have Asperger's Syndrome, No friends, and my parents have already seen this.

And, I pay for my car payments (266.34) and Insurance, which is 200 Bux a month...

I totally agree with that, but whose fault do you think that is? I think that the many parents of my generation that are able to spoil their kids do because they can, ie- they can give their kids what they never had.
That being said, kids need to be taught how to appreciate what they are getting.
To add where I'm coming from, my car was an early graduation present. I was actually supposed to share it with my dad, but literally months after we got it he was diagnosed with an illness that means he can't drive it. Similar to what another poster said, I don't consider this my car, I let anyone in my immediate family drive it if needed (including my bro who never let me touch his 2000 SiR for years). My university education is paid for; this was the choice of my parents, I discussed with them about me contributing, but they knew I would struggle big time trying to work a lot and maintain good grades. That being said I do have a part-time job for any of the other frivolous things I want to buy or do. I thank my lucky stars all the time.
I actually hope the OP was totally joking... for the sake of our generation

Well, perhaps if you explain to us what it is you want money for MAYBE you will get some sympathy...

If your parents sucked, don't take out your frustration on the following generation.

You went through hardship, persevered, and overcame. Congratulations.

No need to overgeneralize based on your own experiences. Besides, was there ever a generation that never liked the following generation? I'm sure your parents felt the same way about you and your peers.

Thanks for my mother, she went to my baseball games, soccer games, school functions, etc.....my dad didn't do shit with me unless it was to help him fix his car. Sure he supported me financially until I turned 18 but not a dime since. I was in intensive care 7 years ago after a car accident. Last time I spoke to him, he told me he would be there to see me the next day. I gave up waiting after day 4 and I refuse to call him and apparently he feels the same. My sister stopped talking to him 6 months prior to that because he kept standing up his grandchildren and my sister was tired of making excuses for him....Sooooo I have a mother whom I owe everything to as far as how I was raised and how happy my childhood was.....The only drawback is I don't think I'm in the will anymore so my sister and I lose out on a 50 chevy, 58 vette, 63 vette, 1950 Honda motorcycle
