HMM, Don't you give your signed receipt away? Then how did he have copies of it to take picture of. Or did he actually took pictures there, in public?

Most of his receipts were from restaurants or other establishments where you have the opportunity to leave a tip on the credit card. In this case they are required to give you two copies that look exactly the same except your copy has your credit card number *ed out so you can toss it later. He probably got home and resigned it the way he did when there. The ones that arn't like that it looks like he took pictures.

Most decent, established places I go to always hold on to my card for a signature check, since I didn't sign my card they always ask for ID with it.

I read this a while back. Good stuff. It actually sparked an interest in me to see what I can get away with. I rarely sign my own name now. I've never been called about fraudulent charges.

I know they check the purchases cause I've had my bank call me a few times about some of my transactions. They sent me a new card one time also cause they thought somebody hacked into my stuff.

my credit company calls me whenever I make a purchase more than $300 or when I start making charges out of state. Then again I only have a $560 credit limit, so I guess $300 is a big deal.

I like california though cause they check your ID out their, don't do that in Idaho. My brothers cards all have a photoID right on it, thats kind of a cool security. But honestly, I have 1 credit card and a debit card, I'm going to notice if it gets stolen. And as long as you report it stolen within a couple of days their is no way you will be held responsible for the charges. Its just when you wait like a month or something.

Also the signatures are more of a legal thing, authorizing the company to charge your card. It has nothing to do with security, its like signing a contract to agree to pay. So the only time they would be looked at is if some fraudulent activity was in question.
