Dented a car today at work :( ...probably getting fired :(

So yeah, I went to work today, and not even two hours in, I had to park a honda oddysey in the garage, and on my last turn in, I accidently hit this pole on the right side of the car and dented the rear quarter panel and completely scratched it up .... Needless to say, i'm probably getting fired, and I'm an idiot....

Has anyone else here gotten fired from a job? Bad thing is, I just started this job 3-4 weeks ago and I already have one strike against me....

Anyone need an intern at a marketing or accounting company? Job offers currently being accepted

Wow that sucks.. sorry dude
I haven't gotten fired yet, and hopefully it doesn't happen... I tend to be a pretty quiet dude that tries not to start trouble or anything haha

Oh, that sucks dude.

On another note, my brother used to work for Subaru, and his co-worker drove a brand new STi into a curb at ~80km/h. Fired.

Best of luck to you though. Hope they'll keep you around...

Yea if you were upfront and honest about it I doubt you'll get fired if they are a legit place and care about employees.

Accidents will always happen. The main thing is manning up about it.

You are new so that can be bad, but I see it like this. Can't turn the clock back so it's outta your hands now. No need to stress

I work at a Honda dealership and our porters dent/scratch cars regularly. It's mostly Odyssey's, too - our parking lot is tight and those suckers are big. I've seen about 3 kids mess a car up on their first day of working, so don't feel too bad.

They'd fire you over an accident. You obviously didn't mean to hit the car, and unless you deliberately left without reporting it, that's really unprofessional of them to fire you over that.

If they'd fire you over that, maybe you deserve a better job anyways.

I don't see them firing you over a mistake like that. Good luck

I don't think they'll fire you, but I wouldn't ask for a raise or a day off for a while if I were you.

Accidents happen but if you start costing them money and or business or make their insurance go up, they'll rightly cut you loose. Once is an accident and people have accidents, but twice starts to be a pattern...so I'd be very very very f'in careful.

when i worked at a dealership one of the guys put a 02 Ram sideways into a poll and didn't get fired... i wouldn't sweat it if u were up front.
although in your first 3months of probation it'll make things a bit stressful.
just be cool and go on like nothing happened and it'll be ok

Well, if you work in valet your management will probably pull the Vegas hat trick on them:

(1) "That was there when you brought it in."
(2) "Read that sign. It says 'XYZ property is NOT responsible for damages to customer vehicles'. "
(3) "AH, LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU!" /Ducks out of the room.

Valet parking your car in Vegas is not just convenient...its an ADVENTURE.

(of course, none of that means you won't get fired...)

I do some valet work and you should not get fired because of this. Kids at my job crash cars allllllll the time and the barely even get punished. it goes hand in hand with the job. If you park 200 cars every weekend for 6 months, someone out of the crew is bound to crash one of them........
