Sucks to hear, but I guess it's inevitable in this day and age.

Godspeed to him.

The best thing to do is to email him and once he has reached his final destination in iraq, he can email you back. From there, he can give you his Unit address and sending stuff to him will be easy! The FOBs (as we call them) differ from place to place and he may or may not have internet so be patient with him and most of all if he dont respond with quickness, dont worry! Sometimes it takes awhile to get to internet over there. As far as phone cards, more than likely, he will have the oppurtunity to buy one himself, just ask him what he needs. I hope this helps and if you need anything else, just PM me, no prob. __Staff Sergeant

Like slammed bimmer said, he will write once he gets in place, possibly even call or access the internet. it sort of depends what his mos/job is too on what kind of access to comm. calling cards can be purchased at the local px/bx. USO also passes out a few for you so the first few wont be a problem. Also there is another way of calling back. Find the post/bast nearest where he wants to call and get their swithboard/operator number or the morale line number (which will be a DSN number). Then if he has access to a DSN phone over in Iraq, then he just calls the state DSN number and gets transferred. This also works for calling cards if there is no base close by. What I mean by this, is you lose more points on your calling card if you call from overthere, so use the DSN to call the calling card number, then you only use the in U.S. points and not overseas points. Hope that is understandable. Sorry for the length.
