Nitro RC car

is anyone here got nitro? if you do, I have a question:

is it normal for a nitro engine, hard to start it back up when you run it too long, i mean about 10 times of filling up the tank and messing around the parking lot non stop like there's no tomorrow then everytime i fill up my tank , it is really hard to start it back up, it will start but it'll take me probably 10 times pulling the rope or whatever. please help.thanks

Starting a hot engine is supposed to be hard...from what I remember.

i thought starting a hot engine was easier than starting a cold one

you may need to prime the engine a little bit every time you fill it up if you ran it dry

starting a warm engine is BAD for those little engines.

starting the warm engine is harder because the little parts inside of the engine expand a lot to give it very high compression. thus making it hard to start.

i always used a starter box with two 520 motors and a 12v battery to start my inferno mp7.5

running 10 tanks is bad for the engine as well, it will shorten the life of the engine considerably. those small little engines can lose their compression very fast and then they stall and bog a lot. i used to race on a semi-pro level in the mid west, i replace many of piston/sleeve combos in my day.

the best thing to do is get a temp gun, cost like $100 or so. take a couple easy laps or about 5 minutes to let the engine warm up. you dont want to go full throttle at first, i can stress enough how fragile these engines actually are. monitor the temp of the engine and make sure you tune it every single run.

but yeah, starting them warm is hard and i do not suggest it.

-1. what rc model do u have?
0. what motor is is it?
1. how old is the motor?
2. check ur carb. and idle screw
3. check ur air filter ... sometimes when those things get dirty they create problems.

i've never had an issue starting my rc when it was warm/hot ... it always started up quicker when it was warm/hot... that's for sure.

where temp is concerned, if u have a traxxas engine i think u should be around 270F ...

10 tanks shouldn't kill u... i've done 20 tanks or more repetedly on my tmaxx, day in, day out and it ran like a champ for months ... these things can take a beating ... i remember recently they tried to blow one up pumping it with a nitrous kit and it just took it and still ran after all the abuse...

if it gets too hot it will shut down. Adjust the idle for more fuel to cool it down. Also it might be a good idea to buy a new piston and sleeve

I don't know much about CT5's so I can't help ya with suggesting a replacement (might want to check some dedicated forums) but the engine may be shot (at least the P&S). Engines that won't start when they're warm usually have compression problems. Engines are supposed to be easier to start after they are warm.

Obviously if the engine is overheated and won't start that is another issue.

being that you have ran you SB about 10 tanks....for sure your tuning has to be off becuase the motor is not same (compression wise) 10 tanks ago...you'll proabably have to fatten the settings a tad then once you get it fired up and running up to temp then you can re-tune the needles
