Having lived on a farm I find most of these images not to be disturbing, but the way things are. I don't want any animal to suffer. People in the City who see their burger on a bun and never anywhere else, or people who think that they make the leather coats from scratch (not coming from a animal), are mostly the people that are disturbed by these images. Please remember people, animals can not reason, nor are they capable of thought. They are conditioned, and react according to instinct. If the images from this video do disturb you greatly then stop using any animal products, and stop wearing animal products, and heck, might as well stop eating plants too.. only difference between them and animals is they can't scream, or "look cute", but they are still alive and KILLED so that you may live.
Sorry for the rant, and I expect the flame... lol |

I agree that this is just the way things are and that it is a natural cycle of predation, but I disagree with the blanket statement that animals cannot reason or think and are solely guided by instinct (and the implicit implication that humans are not guided by instincts). There have been numerous studies that indicate certain animals are self-aware (something very young children do not grasp) and they can solve problems (reasoning), though it is doubtful any will be enrolling at Harvard any time soon. |

It's sad, but that's the reality. If anything it makes me more thankful of the food, because I know it's at a price.
The animal world is no less cruel. Seals get chunks of their flesh ripped apart by sharks. Chicks get abandoned only to be devoured by cats. Alpha male monkeys kill the young offspring of non-alpha males by cracking their heads against a tree. Gazelles get limbs torn apart when two hyenas pull in opposite directions. |

I didn't look at the vid (don't need to...seen enough of it before). As long as the animal is killed quickly and as painless as possible then I have no issue with it.
The above posters are correct: This is simply the cycle of life and animals are far more cruel to each other (just watch "Predators at War" on Discovery (?)). I also agree that some animals, clearly, are not just led by instinct. Some examples: Dolphins, some, maybe all "monkey type animals" (couldn't think of another blanket desciption at the moment), and possibly dogs. In addition, as much as I love dogs, for example, I have no issue with people eating them. I mean we eat cows, which some cultures find absolutely horrifying!

^God I love Chick-fil-A.
I refuse to even watch the video. I'm not an animal activist or anything but I cannot watch animals getting hurt. I laugh at people getting hurt or dying but animals... no. Its the fact they can't defend themselves and this is how we treat them? I hate people. |
