Angry It finally happened to me

I'm so pissed at myself. Took 10 months and 15k miles to happen. Coming to work this morning I took a turn a little faster than I should have and didn't see the ice. Smacked into the curb doing about 10 mph. What do you think? Insurance company or no? From what I can tell, I need a wheel, front lip, windshield washer bottle since it leaked all out and some brackets. I also tore the bumper from the screws where it attaches to the fender. Oh and an alignment cause she's really pulling to the left now. I just drove it to work after hitting the curb and checked it there. Up to 40 mph it's fine. I haven't had a chance to try highway speeds to see if anything else may have been moved. I know I need tires. They were shipped from Tire Rack yesterday

I'd claim it and have it repaired by a professional given the fact that it is basically a new car. If the car was a few years old, then that would be a different story.

Sorry to hear this happened to you... ice on the roads sux bigtime!

that's some nasty rash on the rim...sorry to hear about the damage.

Re. insurance, it depends on your deductible and what your rates are, and your claim history. What will the repairs cost, and how much will they exceed the deductible?

On another subject, I see that you're in Westchester. One of my favorite drives in NY is the Saw Mill Parkway in and out of Manhattan...I drive it 5 -6 times per year on the way to CT and MA. Can't wait to drive it in my new Si. How do you like the road? Are there similar fun drives around?

"Finally?" I sure hope there's no NHBP curse that afflicts all owners, otherwise I'm screwed.
Sorry to see that happen. To this day I still take curves too sharply. That's the beauty of this Civic...beautiful turning radius.
How are your tires so worn? I have 9200 miles on mine and they don't look anywhere as worn. Your front lip spoiler and calipers look sweet though. Good luck man.

Thanks for the replies. I've had no claims at all in 7 years, my deductible is 1,000. I have to get it looked at by an adjuster to see what he thinks. It will definitly get done professionally but still not sure if I want my rates to rise ove a few hundred bucks. I pay enough just by living in NY...lol

For some fun driving try out the Bronx River Parkway between White Plains and the Cross COunty Parkway....killer curves

I've only smoked my tires once and it wasn't much. Now the past two days I've been spinning them alot since my new ones are in route

Aw that sucks... it pains me just to see that.
I've decided that I hate winter I spun out yesterday morning on my way to work around a long bend. I managed to keep the car in a sideways slide until an oncoming car was past me before it finally gave out and sent me into a 360. Luckily I managed to keep it in the lane and didn't hit any curbs. I think snow tires are in order for next winter :)

for the wheel, I've gotten wheels on the cheap from this place: www.factorywheeloutlet.com $150 shipped, fully guaranteed to be straight, true, and balanced, and buffed/polished. Cheapest place I found when I had to replace a bent rim on my Mazda.

Well I got 2 estimates, one for 1486.25 and another from the girl at works dad who owns a body shop for 2814.73 but he also added another rim and tire for the rear due to a parking lot curb incident last year * I don't want to talk about it * as well as a new bumper and fender liner

Ugh that sucks... so that begs the question: what's NOT included in the first one that makes it half the price?

2- 17" wheel - 253.20 each
2- 17" tire - 217.99 each
1- Front bumper 237.60
2.4 hours labor for above items @ $54/hr
1 - Flex agent for bumper - $20

The cheaper place wants to fix my rim which I won't go for. Almost half the wheel is curb rash. About the only good thing I can see from this is I finally get to have the hole in my bumper fixed from the dealer putting my plate on...lol

Don't go through insurance if your deductible is $1000.

I'm going to see what they offer me. I already reported it. I can still decline tomorrow when I see the adjuster. I'm thinking somewhere in the middle around 2k. If thats the case, I'll have them fill in the holes for the H on the trunk as well as possibly removing the whole H from the front....hmmmmmm C'mon cheap ass insurance company...lol

sorry to hear about that, I hit a curb like that in my 02 civic but was lucky enough to only break one of my hubcaps and narrowly avoid a street sign.

And just last week I nearly spun out because out because of the salt on the ground.

winter FTMFL

let's all move to california...

good luck with the repairs
