So I quit my job.....

So today was another great day in the life of Dave. Yesterday I had scheduled to take the day off of work to go talk to my student counselor about school. I decided about a month ago that I was tired of working manual labor and I was going back to school. I had all my classes lined up so I could still work full time and make a living. The only thing I asked my boss was to take yesterday off to get everything set up since I start on January 15th. Well yesterday at about 3PM I get a call from my roommate (who I work with as well) asking me where I was. I promptly told him that I had used a vacation day to get the final details in line for school. He then told me that my boss had no idea about it and didn't know where I was. Of course since my boss is a worthless piece of sh*t he had already left for the day. So I thought everything would be fine and would just refresh my boss's memory the next day because he does tend to forget stuff (because along with a worthless piece of sh*t he is also a f*cking moron). So I get to work today and after about an hour my boss calls me and tells me I need to come to the front and talk to him. Figured it was about yesterday and we would just work it out. When I get up front I am promptly met by my boss, the dealership GM, as well as one of our corporate reps. I was thinking "this can't be good". We go into the office and they ask me if I am happy with my job. I told them I am, I love my job and other than my boss I love the people I work with. The only problem I have ever had is the pay. I have been there for over a year and a half and never had a raise. I even passed up a raise so we could hire some more help at them time. Of course I was promised the next raise available and never got it. So what these three are trying to tell me is they want me to take on more responsibility and not get a raise, not now and not anytime in the near future. This offended me. I have busted my ass for this job working extra hours for free and even coming in on my days off to make things easier on my coworker. I can't even count how many times I have worked late on my early days just to help out. Then after all of this my boss asked me what happened yesterday. I told him, as well as the other two ass bags, that I had requested and been approved to take a vacation day over two weeks ago. He then denies that and tell me how if I had done that he would have written it down and made me sign some sheet, something he has never done in the past. He then proceeds to tell the GM and the rep that he always has people fill out this request form for vacation time. I couldn't believe that he was straight up lying to their faces to try and make me look bad. At that point in time I was so pissed that this jerk was trying to get me fired. Also the other two don't know me from Adam since they never bothered to meet me so of course they believe my boss. So they gave me a choice, take on the responsibility and keep the same pay or be put on suspension for not showing up yesterday. At this point in time I was fed up so I just said fine, I'll leave. What really pisses me off is I could have gotten my boss fired on many occasions because he sucks at his job so bad, but I didn't. Then how does he repay me? He lies to his superiors to make me look bad. In the end I am kinda of happy because I don't want to work for a company that treats their employees so badly. Anyway sorry this was so long and thanks for reading.

Damn bro, I had something very similar happen to me. I won't get into telling the story, but so far I'm a lot happier with my decision to quit and go back to school.

Everything will work out for you. Hell, maybe you're next boss won't be a dousche.

While I do have to say that it's unfortunate that it turned out this way, I agree that you're better off not having any association with these people that seem to be more concerned with saving a few pennies over keeping you happy.

Definitely not a good situation. Sorry it ended like it did, but you're definitely better off. Now you just need to find another gig to help pay the bills while you go to school. If you're lucky, your roomie, Tweek, can support you for a while. Ha!

They sound like they were taking advantage of you. There is a lot of crap in the workplace. The good news is you are young and will learn from this experience. When you are treated fairly you will know it and will like your job a lot more. You are better off being out of there. Good Luck with school.

No I was the part counterman for the Technicians. Not by any means prestigious job, but you do have to have a little knowledge to work there. I am gonna laugh so hard when they find some guy on the stree to replace me and all the techs start getting pissed.

On a side note, if you are reading this Tweek, I want to say I'm sorry to you and Bob b/c I know its gonna be rough on you guys for a while, but I had to do it.

same job as me but im with bmw..... stillnot worth the trouble if ya ask me. what was your pay issues??

That sucks bro. The job I had before this my boss was the same way. I transfered departments even b/c they needed help bad and I was told I would become manager eventually. Well after 2 managers and countless times coming in on days off and staying late there was a big f'up in our department b/c the new manager was laid back and didn't follow the rules. During the meeting he denied everything and called us the lazy ones and blamed everything on us. I got so pissed I got loud and called him out right there. The big boss didn't like it at all and had the attitude that management was always right and better than the reg employees and I got in trouble for getting upset. So I waited till I found my current job and a day that I opened by myself and I just no call/no showed. When the GM called me I told him to FO and shove that job up his ass. I screwed them bad and it felt so good!

Its two fold. I have been there for a year and a half and never had a raise as well as been promised several raises from several different people and still never got one. Not to toot my own horn but I think I do a very good job and have alot of knowledge and I was still making less than entry level money.

I talked to an old friend at advance auto and he thinks he'll be able to get me a managerial job there for a while, then hopefully I can take that job over at Rosen. Nissan in April.

i know your pain so very well. but i do get paid alot for what i do. from what i hear our store pays the coutnermen for the parts man. at some of our other stores so i cant complain to much. but havent had a raise in quit some time
