Manual to Auto
my mom drives auto, i drive stick. whenever i come home late, i have to switch the cars so my mom's car is the first one out. whenever i drive her car, i always keep thinking that the brake is the clutch and when i put it in "D" i keep wondering why her car doesnt move (its cus my foot is still on the brake...) and when i turn her car off, i keep forgetting to put in on "P".
is it just me or does this happen to everyone else? just curious. DONT FLAME ME! |

lol, at least once whenever I drive my parents automatic I go for the "clutch" and end up slamming on the brake while rolling to a stop sign or light. I also forget to put it in park and cant figure out why the key wont come out, takes a second or two to remember.

Well.. when I drive my sister's accord.. I get bored easily.. because I'm like.. ok so what does my left leg and right hand do besides braking.. but that P thing I forget.. and it's weird not pushing the clutch after starting.. I havent hit the brakes thinking it was the clutch though.. maybe that'll happen eventually

after 3-4 days of havin my Si (First time manual driver) I test drove my boyz brand new Acura TL.. When i started it my left foot slammed the floor cuz i didnt realize there was no clutch.. lol
.. While i was driving it, i had to slow down for a turn and again my left foot went for the clutch so i could throw it in a lower gear, but it hit the brake the car jumped.. My friend thought i was just testing out the brakes ![]() Edit: HAHHA i just read some of the other posts.. Its nice to see im not the only idiot doin this LOL |

One time, i was driving my girlfriend's 06 civic auto, (mine's a manual R18) and she was sleeping in the passenger's seat. When i got to her house to park by the curb, i tried to push the clutch to put it in nuetral as i was slowing down, still going about 5-10mph, but it was all brake. I ended up slamming on the brakes and she flew forward and woke up like "wtf!!" lol. it was too funny!

hah, i thought i was the only one, when driving my parents pilot, the e brake is a pedal off to the left, and once while we were driving i just randomly stepped on it and reached down to shift, the car just slided around and i got a pretty big bitchin at

When I drove auto, I always stepped on the brake when I started the car. I thought that was good practice.
![]() But yes, ever since driving stick, I have accidentally tried to find the clutch when starting the car. I've also had this habit where I would try to find it as well at stop signs or stop lights. It's also weird reversing with auto since all you're doing is essentially riding the brake. |
