Friend got into wreck last Friday...now paralyzed from the waist down.
Well, 2 weeks ago a friend OD'd. Then, last Friday another friend got into a car wreck and doctors are saying he'll never walk again. He was following traffic coming back from black friday shopping. An 18-wheeler in front of him ran over a tire that was laying on the interstate, so my friend swerved to avoid it. Wound up going across the median and hit oncoming traffic. There were 2 cars that slammed into him. One of the drivers was DOA, luckily the other driver & his 18 month old daughter are alright. My friend has a punctured lung, lacerated spleen, bruised brain, and completely crushed lower vertebrae. Docs say he'll likely never walk again. He's in a coma right now, but he's actually able to move his fingers. They can't take him into MRI because he has tubes in his heart and lung. This happened on the i-565 in Alabama. Law of conservation of momentum: his speed + others' speed=total speed of impact. 70mph + 70mph=140mph. He essentially was going 140mph and came to a complete stop. I'm honestly freaked out by this. I've lost one friend, and another won't be able to walk. We're all hoping that the doctors are wrong.

I'm sorry to hear about your latest news. I'll be praying that the Doctors are wrong and he will have a full recovery. There are countless people every day that are living proof of that. Any wreck at that speed can be extremely serious. Keep us updated to his situation.

I appreciate the kind words. Sometimes I don't like posting this stuff because it seems like I expect people to feel sorry for me. I hate people like that. I'm just posting because things like this make me appreciate what I've got in my life, and maybe seeing this will cause some people to consider their fortunes as well. His name is Wes, by the way. If you're the praying kind, please keep him in your prayers.

Wow- sorry to hear dude.
I was *almost* in the same boat. Afew years back my dad was paralized from his arms to his waist. The doc's told him that he would never be able to swing a golf club again. Needless to say- 8 months later he was back on the golf course and down to a 4 handicap. Keep your head up and try to stay positive. |

Your friends and their families are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the doctors are wrong about your friend. And you're right, things like this do make us step back and put things into perspective.
