Factory 2002 Acura RL radio code for bro-in-law

My soon to be bro-in-law needs the factory code from his radio to allow it to work. His battery went dead a month or so ago and the Acura dealership will charge him $100 to remove the radio to get the serial # off the radio and then e-mail it to Bose, etc etc. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to help him, but basically all he needs is the serial # to reset the radio. Is there a way I can reset the radio without having a serial # or removing the radio itself? If not, can someone give me some advice on the complexity of removing those factory H/U's? I appreciate any help here. He's the one I wrote about a while back who was a know-it-all when it comes to electronics, so it would be good to be able to do this for him.

I actually just did this yesterday. I couldn't find the little card that had the radio code on it, but as I was leafing through my Honda documents, I found the code was written down by a tech on the initial pickup day in my Honda service tracker. Don't know if it is a standard operating procedure, but look through eveything before resorting to the dealership. Plus, it sounds like this radio code should be recorded somewhere other than just on the back of a radio. Consider going to another dealership and seeing if the code is stored in some master Honda network.

Maybe he can check Acura's ownerlink and see if the code is in there for his VIN from the last owner.

Open the Glove box and look on the side panels for a small sticker. If the PDI was done properly there should be one there. That sticker has the Radio SN# on it.
Then just go to the dealer and they can get the code in a short period of time with their computers.
Also we put the code on a sticker in the under hood fuse block. Just in case.
