California girl's prosthetic legs stolen... again

TEMPLE CITY, Calif. (AP)-- A California high school sophomore whose artificial leg was stolen three months ago has been victimized again.

Last November, a thief stole Melissa Huff's prosthetic leg from her suburban Los Angeles home, taking video games and other items, as well.

This time the burglar took a $12,000 cosmetic leg and a donated $16,000 "sports" leg Huff uses to play competitive softball.

Her mother calls the theft "insane," asking: "Who could hate her that much?" She says Melissa's room was trashed, and a camera was left untouched.

After the first theft, Melissa's doctor and two real estate finance companies donated money for a new, shock-absorbent "sports leg" with a flexible foot.

Melissa's right leg was amputated two years ago after a car accident.

Hmm it depends ..

i think that stealing a set of wheels or something from a car would lead to returning the stolen things or pay a fee+short time in jail..

I dont think it got stolen. I think the girl sells them and keeps the money then she tells her mom that it got stolen so that she can get another one.
