Brother-in-law rant
Okay, my fiance's (yea, I said bro-in-law but he will be in about 8 months) sister started dating a guy last February. They got married in June. They're both 26 and are school teachers. I can't stand her sis because she's truly a spoiled brat. For example, lindsey's (fiance) mom still pays for their dogfood, their DOGFOOD, WTF! If anyone here can grasp that, you understand that there's more to that than simply dogfood.
Anyway...he's (eddie) always trying to compete with me on some level. He's a Dukes/North Carolina fan (no affiliation whatsoever, go figure). I'm a Kentucky fan (born there). He always takes jabs about how UK basketball has been crappy lately. I usually let it slide with a simple remark like "they're still the most winningest team in NCAA" and that's it. They (sis & bro-in-law) recently signed new contracts through T-mobile and got new RAZR phones. Lindsey's sister goes on and on about how he can put songs on the razr phone. I'm like, wtf, I did that to lindsey's 3 months ago. [Roll Eyes] Here lately he's been driving me nuts about home theater. My fiance's dad builds homes and he's known for a while that when I build I want a theater room. We've even gone to some places together to get a feel for equipment I'd like to use. Well, Eddie brought up the topic of wanting a theater room as well when they build their house to my soon to be father-in-law. He told eddie that he should talk to me about that since I was into it. He said, "oh, he doesn't know as much as I do". What an arrogant pr1ck. [Mad] He started quizzing me tonight about what equipment I would use. When I said I'd probalby go with a rear-projection if I were to do anything right now, he laughed and said that overhead was better. Seriously, laughed. Then went on to say that he was only getting the "finest setup" and went on to say that it included Yamaha products. [Roll Eyes] I didn't say anything rude, but just said that there's no way I'd say that Yamaha is the best out there. Then he countered with he might do Bose surround instead since his car has bose speakers and those are the best speakers you can get. After that I pretty much let him know he was an idiot if he thought his bose speakers are the best speakers. He knows I'm into car audio so the convo pretty much stopped there. I was hoping he's delve into that so I could burn his arse. I try to be the "bigger" man and let it roll off my back. Although, sometimes I want to pummel that moron. Just needed to let off some steam. Cliff's: Soon to be bro-in-law is an arrogant, cocky SOB. |

Just because you're related to them, doesn't mean you have to hang with them. Do the holiday thing and that's it. My inlaws are nice enough, but they are very conservative and reserved people from Minneapolis. I'm from a loud, crazy family from New Jersey. Need I say more? I can relate to MY Big Fat Greek Wedding. I'm a Portakalos, he's a Miller.

Hahaha. I'm sort of a Home theater guru myself. You can tell him that if he wants Bose home theater speakers he is 100% full of $&#*.
Tell him to go out and get some real speakers, just to name a few. Klipsch, Definitive, Martin Logan, Monitor Audio, B&W, Paradigm, Tannoy, Totem, nOrh, and I hate to even mention it, Wilson. I'd be surprised if the guy has heard of more than one of those companies, heh. Convince him to buy some Alexandia X2's. I'm sure he'd only have to sell a house for em. There's "finest" for ya.

Don't feel bad about that either, heh. Almost all of them are specialty speakers. Infact out of all of those Klipsch is probably the only one that has gone mainstream. Though their stuff you see at BestBuy is hardly their finest, it is better than alot of what they sell. Unfortunately the prices there for those speakers are kinda bad.

Don't even get me started on HT's and Bose. Might as well say Kia is the best car out there because of the warranty. I don't know the level of knowledge you have about dedicated HT's, TV's, audio etc... but if you have any questions what-so-ever, let me know! I've been doing it professionally for 8 years and currently work on the install side of the A/V industry (have for almost a year now as a tech support guy). Just shout with any questions.
If you want to make the guy a real moron, tell him to buy Yamaha, Bose and all Monster products. hahaha Tool. |

Have you just told him straight up that he's just an asshole? Personally, I can't just stand there sometimes and let things bottle up. I'll tell it how it is if I have to. Are you sort of indirectly telling him he's a dumbass for thinking a Bose setup is top notch?
Luckily my in laws are cool!
