Hot Older Mom's dig SIs. (long read)
Yesterday, I sort of got lost in VA Beach. I ended up in a rather affluent neighborhood. One of those neighborhoods that made me feel out of place in my $20K car. The kind of neighborhood where the kids have nothing less than a BMW and the Mom's all drive Land Rovers and the Dad's drive to work in an M series while the '67 Vette chills in the garage.
Anyway, I pass 3 women out on a morning walk, in their late 30s-early 40s, total MILF material for you guys. They were all gorgeous, educated, mom types. Perfectly coiffed and in great shape. I pass by in the SI. The taller of the three turns around and walks backwards eyeballing my car as I continue down the street. Okay, I thought, I think I need to leave, I'm uncomfortable now. I'm catching the attention of the locals. I proceed to turn around in a driveway of a house for sale and go back the way I came. I see the women again so I figure, talking to them will put them at ease since I'm obviously a stranger in one of those "tuner cars." I decide to pull over and ask for directions on how to get to Rt 13. The taller one gets all excited "OH! I know this. I just did it yesterday. You're close, blah, blah, blah." She then tells me directions while eyeballing every surface in and on my car while the other two pretty much do the same. She finishes, I thank her. As I start to pull away she yells out "Oh, by the way I really love your car. It's gorgeous." I was totally suprised and shout out a huge thank you and I hear one of the other two say " That is a nice car. I really like it too." the third, " Hmmmm... I wonder how much one of those must cost. Maybe I'll take a look at one." I smiled all 7 miles to the Chesapeake Bridge. The point of my sharing this is about being to quick to pass judgement on ourselves and others. We all do it but for what? It really serves no purpose. 99.9% of our DNA is identical. We all live, pay taxes and die. All this other stuff is toys to keep us busy during our short break on this rock. That guy passing you in his M5 may just be appreciating your love of a car. That kid in the yellow DX "type R" with a huge wing, maybe isn't hating. He could be appreciating too.

That's awesome Dawn! I get compliments from all walk of life as well. The young crowd the old crowd, men, women, middle age. The new Civics are just a class above the older gens.
Everyone looks at the last gen civic and think.. oh its just a civic, but now its more like.. wow thats a civic? Plus, your car is always looking hot anyway! |

Yar, good story Dawn! Too bad I never get those looks. Even still, I do sometimes see older people (San Dimas) look in on my car...and it makes me a little giddy when they're interested in it. Saw a couple of "youngsters" too, and that puts a smile on my face when they double-take.
The best I remember though is a chap that had a 7th look at me across the street. I smiled and gave a Peace sign!

I've had folks from every walk of life inquiring about the car as well. I think it's cool. People say "it's just a civic" But when I worked at Acura I had customers with Lexus RX300s and Jags tell me they were cross shopping the Civic Coupe and the TSX. One of my customers had a GGEX on order that was waiting for her to pick up. She ended up trading her pristine RX300 for a TSX from me.

It is a nice story,
I was thinking as I read it that the average buyer of a civic isn't some snot nosed late teen to 20 something year old who wants to rice out his car and pretend he rules the underworld of racing or something; its a 50+er who wants a safe, reliable, and frugal car. Usually what I've noticed in car buying is that the really successful buy the civics and F-series pickups, etc because they would rather save money than waste it (how do you think they became wealthy in the first place). It is often moreso the younger, trying to prove themselves bunch (me included) who look at the nicer cars as a sign of presteige and success. Don't be surprised if you drive down that street in the future and see a few of them. I live in the nicer part of Miss. Ont. right now, (not my shack but off campus) and there are about 4-5 $1M+ homes with 8th gen civics in their driveways. |

You're doing it wrong!!

Well c'mon Hondagrl, is it that much of a surprise? You and your car just exude pure awesome. Not even MILFs can resist.
![]() Seriously though, while your car clearly has a tuner look it is very tasteful plus you are an attractive and respectable looking person yourself so you shouldn't have felt that out of place. :) I don't think you gave yourself enough credit. Plus I think women like the idea of another woman in a cool car that you usually might expect a guy to be driving. It is a nice story though and it's cool to see that even folks in a different income bracket and probably not car affluent will give credit where credit is due. If you see a cool cat in a cool car, give em props. |

I'm glad you guys like it. A part I left out was that about an hour or more later I was driving northbound through Pokomoke City, MD. 2 guys were walking southbound on the 13 on the opposite side of the road. They saw the car, me and starting whooping and cheering "you go girl" I just about died laughing. It was comical to see. I spent the remaining 200 miles utterly convinced I was going to get a massive ticket or worse. lol. Supersticious.
