My Recent Japan Trip!!!!!!

Well guys, I recently came from Japan. This was my second going over there. I was planing to take a lot of pics for you guys, but I found myself shopping and going to different in and out of Tokyo. It was great trip. Here's the link to a little webpage I published:

http://web.mac.com/cornerstrike

If you visit it you will find a few car related pics and at the end I included a track from a new Super Eurobeat CD I picked up over there. Damn those CDs are expensive! Let me know what you guys think. Enjoy!!!!

That pic is the JDM Accord, which is also the EDM Accord. The USDM Accord in Japan is the Honda Inspire. The reason why it's not an Accord here is that it's too small to compete in the mid-size segement against the likes of the Camry, hence it's the TSX stateside. Same reason why the last JDM Accord wasn't the last-gen Accord here too.

Doh!

AAAUUUGGGHHHH! An S15 Sylvia!!!!!! I've only seen one in the wild and that was in Italy. It was that crazy pink color they came in. I love this car. I'm weeping right now. Everything about the S15 is just beautiful.

That Subie sportwagon is so so sexy. I think that cool silver car is a Mitsubishi. I'm probably wrong though. SUPER AUTOBACS!!!!! Why is everything Japan so good?

I like the crazy music. Great pics.

Edit: I was thinking that silver car was an FTO. It's not.

The JDM Accord certainly has a nicer front end than the TSX. The fogs are more integrated. The smoked corners are nicer. And it's an overall smoother look.

Anyone know if the Accord in Japan will be renamed when Acura goes global?

Actually, cars in the US are much much cooler. Japanese have moved on from nice sports cars like the Silvia and instead trick out minivans and B segment cars. Pretty lame.

I visited Japan 5 years ago and it was truly magnificent. Thanks for sharing those car pictures!

Did anyone else feel a sudden urge to play DDR after listening to that Super Eurobeat track?

That track was from Super Eurobeat presents Super GT 2006 Round 2. If your not familiar with Super GT, it is the premiere racing series in Japan. Cars like the 350Z, NSX, Supras, etc, go at it in one of the most competetive GT series in the world. The CD mixes great Euro and J-Eurobeat tracks with sounds from the actual races from that respective season. Super Eurobeat is pretty popular in Japan. In fact, it has the longest running Vol. of music in Japan. I believe the week I came back they just released Super Eurobeat Vol. 172. Para Para clubs play Super Eurobeat a lot.
When I visited Super Autobacs they had a section with new CD releases. I saw a couple new Super Eurobeat CDs and picked up the headphones they had and proceded to listen. As soon as the first track kicked in and I heard the loud, speeding exhaust note of the GT cars along with the Eurobeat track I was hooked. The entire CD is awesome for the most part. I literally spent $90 on only 3 CDs, but they were worth. (For the record Ebay did not have them cheaper)
I was staying at my wife's family home in Fuchu City, just outside of Tokyo. It was about a 30 minute ride to Shinjiku(downtown Tokyo), using the Express Train Line. If you actually stay in a town outside of downtown Tokyo it's actually not as expensive as you think. Sure, if you want to be smack in the middle of Tokyo it will be expensive, but if you stay in a hotel 30 ro 40 minutes away by train you can find something affordable. There are so many small restaurants competing with each other that $15 a day is enough to eat. train tickets are not that expensive either. Living there is an entirely different thing. Apartments can be pricey and owning a car is ridiculious. My wife wants us to move there, so we can be close to her family, but I cannot live without driving every day. The fact of the matter is that it's a lot cheaper to take the train to work then owning a car.
I really recommend that everyone who has time and money make plans to go visit. A week is enough. 2 weeks and extra cash will let you do a lot more. If you know someone that has a place there then you have no excuse.
