so would you buy raffle tickets to win this car?

2006 CL55 AMG
I saw a place near me that is doing a raffle for 100 dollars a ticket. 1000 tickets will be sold in total.

MSRP $121,275* EngineAMG built supercharged 5.5L 24-valve V-8 engineNet Power493 hp @ 6,100 rpmNet Torque516 lb-ft @ 2,750 - 4,000 rpm

Would you buy some tickets? And how many would you buy if any? Reasons?

Be careful. There have been several of these high priced car raffels arond the country, many associated with church or charity groups.

Here is the kicker: Some of these raffles have been going on for 2-3 years as they will not hold the raffle until they sell all of their tickets, or have met a 'price point' 100-200% the price of the car. Obviously, they would like to recover the price of the vehicle and then some, however, some of these 'raffles' have been going on for so long that it looks like they will never actually see the car 'raffled'.

AKA: Church Scam

Not to say that some of these are not legit, just be careful.

No chance. Not at 100 a pop. I have never won anything cool, nor do I know anyone that won anything cool, so the odds are negative.

no. odds arent good enough.

yes technically the payout exceeds the odds, by 20% or so, but i dont think that car is worth the money.

1 or 2 years ago in Grand Central Terminal in NY there were 2 Lambo's and the tickets were $1k each.

I wouldnt' because 1 in 1000 is way too bad a chance at winning with $100 invested. Too much imo.

At the mall of america they have a Ferarri of some sort being raffled away or something.. I didn't check it out, just stared at the car for a few and went on.

Buy $ 50,000 worth. That gives you an even chance at least. Good odds, and you get a car at better than half price.

Winning a car, especially that one, would be nice, but do you know how much taxes you have to pay on a car if you win it. I know of a a co-worker who won a Corvette, not even a brand new one, and had to pay 20 grand in taxes.
