FYI, I just built a new system (pretty much just so it could handle FS X). I was running an AMD64 3200+ with a 6800GT video card...no where near good enough. I upgraded to an Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo, 7900GTO (512mb), and 2GB of Corsair XMS memory. No overclocking - yet. It's quite playable (20+ fps) with ground/air/sea traffic turned up to about 75% and HIGH (not HIGHEST) graphics and weather settings. Bottom line - get the most powerful setup you can possibly afford! The upgrade (including a new motherboard to run the Intel) came in just under $1k.

^ yea i had a feeling it was going to take something like that. I was planing on core 2 duo at least 2ghz or even get the quad core when they come out in december. 2 gigs of matched ram, and 2 512mb nvidia cards run through SLI. If that wont do it i dont know what will.

the demo runs great on my laptop, thinkpad T60 2ghz core duo, gig of ram and a pretty crappy card. I have the graphics settings on high and it does 20fps perfectly fine. Apparently they made the full version a little more intensive so if the demo runs fine the full version may not

Yeah, the demo ran pretty good on my 3200+ too. I think it has to do with the fact that the demo takes place in the middle of the ocean...hardly any textures compared to something like Las Vegas or SF, which look pretty darn good BTW.

Hells yeah CivicWithNav, I'm kinda a flight sim nut myself. (And driving Sim, can't wait for Forza 2)

Let me know if you get it, I'm thinking about getting MSFSX. I have 9 right now.

If you do get into MSFS, check out Vatsim, it's virtual air traffic control and is awesome as hell, though be warned it takes a lot of time and concentration to get the hang of things. Just remember to be nice and ask the air traffic controllers and other pilots questions with patience in mind.
