FYI Trading an o6 for 07

Last night, I tried to trade in my wife's 06 EX Coupe ABM without NAV(bought in April-no NAVS available, build date 03/06), 8 Disc CD chgr, fogs, auto mirror, 12000 miles. They appraised the TI value at 17250 What I wanted to trade for was a 07 GG EX coupe, with NAV and the same options she had on her 06. OTD was 27500. (included trade in and pay off). Forgot the idea very fast. Besides, I want the VSA on the EX, because of her 70 mile travel everyday on CT highway. Why they added VSA on the Si and not the other models anyways??? Seem like everyone are turning theirs off because it hinders the drivability of the Si. I'm glad I got my 06 Si HRP w/NAV last month.

$27,500? That's insane! Who does this dealer think he is?! I know that's cliche, but...holy COW.

Sounds high, but not by much. I'm assuming you're losing ~3k-4k for the trade in factoring in pay off. Remember, trade in price is NEGOTIABLE. I was able to squeeze out almost $2k more for my 350z.

If you spent more than $1,000 over MSRP on any Civic, you got ripped off.

The Civic is a WONDERFUL car, but no car is worth over MSRP. I had no gripes paying 500 over MSRP for my Si, but anything more than that, hell no.

I would go try another dealer and see what they'll give you. If that dealer really thought you'd go for paying $27k for a Civic, after you've already BOUGHT one, he's insane. Maybe another place will appraise the car higher, and give you a better deal.

Don't get discouraged.

They rolled in negative equity on you. Since the principal of the 06 was paid down enough and your trade-in value wasn't over the payoff, it rolls into your new loan. Bad idea.

VSA wasn't worth it. You should have waited longer to pay down things. BTW, if you paid that much, you should have an Si in your driveway.
