Clubsi.com

so before I ever knew that 8thcivic.com existed, I was an avid poster on clubsi.com. Then one day, out of no where...THEY BANNED MY ACCOUNT!!! The thing is, I never did anything that would lead to my banning...no bad language, porno, bashing of sexual preferences...nothing! Just kind of angers me. It's been banned for like 5 months now. Anyone have experience with this?

No but I haven't heard many good things about clubsi.com. I was even told by a clubsi.com mod that it's a pretty cutthroat site and not for chicks. Doesn't bother me, I prefer 8thcivic anyway!

It doesn't surprise me

I am assuming as an 'avid poster at clubsi.com' you have been to the OT forum? All of the above are encouraged.

CSi is not a 'new' Honda/Si site. It has been here for years and has many, many regulars, with very active forums. Most of the 'regulars' moved on from their 'Si's' many moons ago and the site has moved to more 'cars', 'bitches', 'WWCSID', and other "abrasive" topics. Most of the regular members would prefer that you crawled off and died somewhere rather than listen to yet another wanker '06 Si question.

At CSi you can either grow a thicker skin, cry, or leave. Staying and whining, particularly if you are foolish to venture into the OT area with your complaints, will earn you more abuse than you might care for.

If you want a much 'nicer' crowd who (generally) won't pick on you, or be 'abrasive' the 8thcivic forums will be much 'nicer' to you. CSi is quite a bit less forgiving, but has many experienced users who just are not going to float BS to be nice to anyone.

(Please note: The use of "you" in this context does not refer to the OP, it is used generically)

I agree. There are also quite a bit of haters in there, just harping on everything. Needless to say, I don't go there much.

I'm telling you. That's the natural evolution of any online community. It ends up in apathy, elitism, and jadedness.

Let me float this theory:

As cars get older and less expensive, younger and less mature people will be able to own them. Therefore, the mean age of the online communities dedicated to that car will decrease, making the community as a whole more tolerant of adolescent behavior. Am I on to anything here?

I only lurk the forums to see what people post; I refuse to join there because I've heard way too many homophobic, racist, sexist, vile comments to even consider joining such a forum.

I'm quite happy here.

But I'm not talking necessarily about the new users. I'm referring to the original founding long-time members. They're the ones who become jaded. They do however set the example.

I forgot to mention nostalgia. That ties in with the elitism.

Let me throw something else out there for us to ponder. What if your site has strong leadership? I don't think webby would be tolerant of such behavior. Also, we have strong moderators like 2fast4u2 and atruhondagrl (the guys too I guess) who call out the troublemakers on our site. Of course, I'm sure a lot of times your original moderators eventually move on because they have new interests that replace the particular interest that binds the online community together.

me too. I went by 2nrChik. I figured it's because when YellowCorn asked if he could see my boobies I said no. I added that they were my secret weapon and if I told him I'd have to kill him. He frowned, I said "you're still cool in my book"

I love reading all of the threads on clubsi.com. You can't post anything without getting flamed by members of that forum. Those guys go out for blood with almost every post. Very entertaining.
