Honda Dealers

So, I was looking on Comptech's website about the supercharger because it's definitely something I'm interested in getting. I notice on their list of dealers that there are quite a few Honda Dealers that sell the superchargers. I think to myself, "Awesome, dealer sells supercharger = dealer approve of the aftermarket part!" So I call inquiring about the supercharger.

Me: Yeah, I noticed on Comptech's website that you're an authorized dealer for their parts.

Parts Guy: Yes we are. Comptech makes some great products for Hondas.

Me: Awesome. Well I have an 06 Si and I'm interested in getting the supercharger.

Parts Guy: Yeah man, if you want to get the supercharger, we've got some AMAZING prices for your car.

Me: Cool...so what would it run me to get it thru you guys and have you install it?

Parts Guy: Sorry, we don't do installs for that because it'll void your warranty. BUT I can sell you the supercharger at a really really good price.

Me: WTF? It'll void my warranty? Why would you sell something that you don't approve of?

Parts Guy: If you want the supercharger I can get you a really good price...

Me: Never mind......


Why would a Honda dealers even offer this to their customers IF they are going to void your warranty after they get it for you???

Don't you all think that's just plain DUMB????

Sorry...just frustrated...want the supercharger and keep my warranty...grrrr

Dealer doesn't write the warranty, and it's no skin off his nose if you lose yours (I suppose if he's your regular dealer he might lose whatever little profit he gets from under-warranty service). Dealer does get the profit from the compressor.
