I have been on the road once. I was in my Camry (my beat-around car) coming home from the mountains. My major reason to take the long way home was to US-64 because I had seen it as a best drive in a C&D 10-Best issue.

The three things I remember about being on the Dragon were tons of curves and motorcycles, and wishing I still had my 2000 Si. (I had sold it to go back to school.) I didn't realize that the road had a nickname and was fairly famous until I stumbled across the videos from the previous post.

Don't worry about my driving. I'm just going to have fun, not explore my car's limits. Just pray nobody else hits my Si.

Sexy! I like that you can see several curves in this pic, plus you have the color matched cars rollin'. I hope you don't mind that I jacked your picture.

If you happen to run the Tail of the Dragon during the weekend, there's a good chance you'll be photographed by my friend Darryl Cannon (aka Killboy) or one of his associates. Check out his website: www.killboy.com

at what speed can you run through this? i don't mean balls to the wall but a decent speed, that makes it fun and challenging? it looks awesome, i'm deff. going to check it out this summer.

That depends on your experience and ability. One should never drive "over their head" on a public road. If you are an experienced driver, and want to go at a "spirited" pace, most the corners are 2nd & 3rd gear. There's something like 315 curves in 11 miles so you WILL be busy. You have to keep in mind that you never know what is around the next bend. I came around a corner one time and a guy coming the opposite direction on a motorcycle had lost control and dumped his bike. I had to go as far right as I could without hitting the guardrail and just missed the bike and then him (they had separated) by about 2 feet. The important thing is to stay in your lane! People crossing the centerline is the largest contributer to accidents on this road. Have fun but be careful!
