Angry I'm going to sell my civic! Need advice

Hey guys/gals,

Here's the story,

I work in Mid-Town Manhattan and currently commute over an hour each day by bus. I found an room right in Mid-town, 10 min from my job for a great price. Therfore it just wouldn't make sense to keep my civic. It would cost me $300 a month just for parking! So i think i need to sell my baby

What should i ask for?

06 civic lx manual
Galaxy Grey
almost 8,000 miles
Never smoked or eaten in
not one dent or scratch, interior is flawless (as it should be)
only thing is that someone keyed the damn thing but i had it professionally repaired so its perfect again.
I even have every gas reciept! i dunno why

any advice would be great before i throw it on here, cars.com and or ebay

Thanks!

id say it really depends..

-if your set financially, i would keep your lx. you never know when having a vehicle will be useful. I use to live in manhattan, having a car was not helpful due to traffic and costs. BUT, there were a few times that having a car saved my ass, and more to the point, a friends. Its also nice to have a car, so you can travel out of state, and out of town as well.

-if the carpayments/parking/insurance are a hassle to keep up with, sell it. I know that payign for a place to live is a substantial set-back. Ontop of living costs and etc, it may not be wise to keep your car.

so just take into consideration how well off you are. and how well off you WOULD be, if you sold your Lx.

Good luck!

it would cost me roughly 700-800 a month for everything, and thats with insurance based on an up-state residence at 1/3 the cost!

I could always rent a car if i needed to for cheap.

shoot, this is tough lol

i guess i could take my time doing it and see how it works out

cars.com and autotrader....ebay will generally be cheaper than anything unless you have collectables like NAVI or SI

to give u an idea...
2006 Civic EX auto&navi (MSRP 21,360 before mid year price hike!)
22,000 miles,8 months of ownership dent in the front bumper(running over truck tire) FULL SI exterior(cost less than $350 )
sold it for $17,567 2 months ago...

guess what I paid for it new...$19,900

so i made out in that case but could be harder with LX's since there are SO many out there

There won't be many squirrels to run over there.

So, if you can live without it, then the choice is clear. I'd far rather save $300/month for parking, and rent a car when it's really necessary. Tough choice, but you can definitely get away with having no car in the middle of a big city like that...

Zip cars are sweet. Most of them are hondas anyways (new civic hybrid, fit, element etc.) They're all around campus. But yeah i made the same mistake. I bought my car less than a year ago not knowing that ill live on campus. I shouldve saved my money and got something nicer or had smaller payments next year or when I start commuting.

I'd ditch the car for a place in Midtown Manhattan...you really don't need it, well unless you ever plan on leaving the city! Then you are screwed!

nothing for a bit, but if my job keeps going the way it does i'm torn between a TL type S or reg, or a G35 coupe.

I love both but i would have to do a side by side comparison

hell you never know but i also wouldnt mind a white SI with NAVI
(alot cheaper than the other two)

but not for a while
