Webby, what's your top movie of 2005?

Mine might be either Layer Cake or Batman Begins.

They have the trailer for this if you go see HOSTEL.
It looks good. I have not seen the 80s original. It is supposed to be a classic Wes Craven film. It is hit or miss with him.
It is going to be a lot like Devil's Rejects. I will see it.

top movie for 05.... hmmm. Honestly there wasn't anything I saw that really stands out in my mind. This year was just kind of a blah year for me. But I would have to say batman was definately up there. I wasn't expecting it to be that good, and it really was.

I'll have to think of others that I"ve seen and liked.

anyone else have a favorite for this year?

1) Batman Begins
2) Crash
3) The Devil's Rejects
4) Star Wars Episode 3
5) Kingdom of Heaven

Not very good movies over all for 05. I hope 06 is better. Batman was by FAR the best.

yeah, not really impressed.
Wedding Crashers was not that funny. Not a classic and very predictable.
Seems like all the moveis lately are remakes, TV conversions, or hybrids of other films.
HOSTAGE = The Negotiator + Die Hard + Nick of Time
Kingdom of Heaven = Braveheart + Gladiator + Troy + Alexander

Dukes of Hazzard just looked horrible to start with.

I want some movies that are original. So my top 5 are above.

I saw Kingdom of Heaven last week, and while I liked it I couldn't give it an "A" grade.

I heard Four Brothers is good.

Rainman, what's your all-time top five these days?

Wow man.... ALL TIME??? Geeez. Thats hard. I would have to break it down for reasons of Genre.
I can't possibly put them in order, but these would be the top 5 not in order.

1) Rain Man - obviously
2) Se7en
3) Jaws
4) Gladiator
5) LOTR Trilogy

I mean, really.... there are so many more. I could easily put these in there too.
The Shining - Classic creepy movie

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Amazing adaptation on the novel. Wonderful effects.

BraveHeart - amazing story, cinematography and acting.

Predator - classic Arnie and one of the best SCI FI movies ever.

Aliens - Classic Cameron, and even better than the original

Napoleon Dynamite - UNIQUE, ORIGINAL and HISTARICAL

Heat - Great classic crime story done with an all star cast.

Jerry Maguire - Had every emotion. Crow is a genious.
Saving Private Ryan - By far the best war movie ever

The Blair Witch - Original and classic. You never see the killer nor blood. Amazing.

Titanic - do I need to give reasons??

Batman Begins - Best superhero movie hands down.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Made over 25 years ago, and still banned in countries. Gory, demented...loved.

That is solid. Seven is on mine for sure, as is 12 Monkeys, Donnie Brasco, Batman 1989, and Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. These are my favorites, not necessarily what I would call "the best."

I love Batman, but do you think Batman Begins is better than Spiderman 2? That could make for a good debate.

I have to say so. See Batman begins had everything.
It made you really think that this POSSIBLY could happen. The guy was human. When he got hit, it hurt and he didn't bounce back like spidey and act like nothing happend.
He woke up with bruises and was battered. Spidey wakes up and it's like nothing happend. Spidey falls from 90 stories, bounces and gets back up. Batman falls from 4 and is about dead.
So yeah, I liked it better. I did like Spidey 2 though.

I've got to go see it, growing up in New Mexico just helps fuel it.
